Belonging is a fundamental birthright. How do we create the conditions for authentic belonging? In this rich conversation with Dr. Yuria Celidwen, we discuss indigenous and contemplative perspectives on belonging. The insights Yuria offers remind us that we need to create ways for diverse perspectives to come together on their own terms, not through Western translation, settler colonialism, or appropriation. Social justice work can be seen as threatening some people, institutions, and places, but the goal (or one of the goals) is to open spaces to the rich wisdom and perspectives of multiple voices and the synergy that can happen when they come together on their own terms.
