There's a pretty good chance that storms will roll through most of our lives at some point. Dark days, rainy weeks, maybe seasons. Health issues can take us by surprise. And if you had been thinking that you need life insurance, it's best to have made these decisions before. But do you really need life insurance? Well, the truth is, you may not. You may not need it if your income won’t be missed if, one day, you are no longer here to produce it. ❌ You may not need it if you don’t have debt that your family would still be responsible for paying. ❌ You may not need it if you don’t have young children and/or children who will have educational expenses that you plan to pay. ❌ You may not need it if you don’t own a business with partners/co-ownership agreements and debt that would still need to be honored. ❌ You may not need it if your estate wouldn’t need liquidity for things like estate tax, outstanding obligations, estate equalization etc ❌ But if any of these things are true for you ✅ it's time. If you don’t have coverage but need it OR if you do and it is about to mature or is no longer enough, we need to talk asap. The best time to get coverage is when the sun is shining ☀️ because when the rain starts, it'll likely be much more expensive - if you can get it at all ☔️ Fact: you will never be as young as you are now. Age, health, medications taken, and smoking all factor in to how expensive life insurance will be for you. I’ll help you find the best, most affordable coverage for you and your family. BTW group insurance is good to have, but if you leave your job, it’s unlikely that you can take it with you. Thriving Professionally, But Still Anxious? You're not alone! Let’s Unpack That. You’ve worked tirelessly, coming from a modest background to secure a good job and financial stability. Yet, despite these achievements, there’s a lingering sense of unease, a feeling that something’s missing. If you’re between 28-35, you might be asking yourself: Why do I still feel this way? In our society especially in India, we often don’t talk openly about certain responsibilities. But it’s okay to acknowledge them, not complain but find solutions that bring peace. This is the stage in life when things start to get serious: 1. Aging Parents: You’re starting to see your parents slow down. Retirement has brought new worries- medical expenses, their health, and the care they need. 2. Navigating Marriage and career together. 3. Raising Kids: Your little ones bring joy, but also a whole new set of responsibilities- school fees, childcare, and securing their future. The anxiety you’re feeling is real, and it’s often rooted in one thing: the lack of a financial safety net. But here’s the good news – YOU CAN BUILD ONE. How I’m Taking Control- and How You Can Too: 1. Building an Emergency Fund: This is your safety net if you lose your job or decide to make a career change. I’ve been focusing on building this up to cover 12 months of living expenses. It’s given me a sense of security I didn’t have before. 2. Health Insurance: Most likely, your parents don’t have health insurance if you fall in this category. Ensuring my parents and I are covered by health insurance has been a priority. Knowing they’re protected from the high costs of medical care gives me peace of mind. 3. Term Insurance: As responsibilities grow, I’ve realized the importance of securing my family’s future. I myself am guilty of not having one since mostly employers covers this. But I’ll get one ASAP and urge you to consider one which covers 10x-20x your annual income. 4. Start Investing: Your money shouldn’t just sit in a savings account. Investing allows your hard-earned money to grow and fight against INFLATION, giving you a financial cushion for the future. LEARN INVESTING or OUTSOURCE IT. Remember, you’re not alone in this journey. These steps are your roadmap to a more secure, less anxious life. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, but it’s not okay to stay that way. Let’s Take This Journey Together. Every day, I spend time thinking about and learning more about personal finance. Here’s a quick update: 📋 Client Wins: Reviewed protection arrangements, ensuring life insurance plans were tailored to meet specific needs. Advocated for a client by chasing a pension provider that has taken 8 weeks to get initial information back; they are also 'freezing' for 6 months to update their systems... Held five client meetings, including cash flow planning sessions to align finances with life goals. A key takeaway: life isn't a rehearsal—plan for the life you want. 💼 Behind the Scenes: Updated my business and social media strategies for 2025. I’m pivoting slightly to stand out from the crowd, and I can’t wait to share what’s coming! Supported clients accessing pension drawdowns and tax-free cash. Filmed and edited Instagram reels—exploring creative ways to make financial education accessible and engaging. 🏋️ Personal Growth: Hit a personal best on the heavy leg press at the gym—feeling stronger than ever! Decided to focus more on networking at the gym. It’s where I enjoy being, and it’s a great space to connect with people who value discipline and planning. 🌐 Expanding My Reach: This post marks the start of my goal to be more active on LinkedIn, sharing weekly updates about my journey and insights. Risk is everywhere. We just don’t always see it, nor do we know when we are making decisions about it. But by not making a decision (otherwise known as being on auto pilot), we are essentially making a decision that it’s not important. How? Driving to work? There’s risk. It’s on the lower end but there. Skiing? 🎿 Risk you could hurt yourself or others. We still go and enjoy it. Going out on a Friday night? Indoor rock climbing 🧗♀️?? Risk! Let’s just say the “Perfect Belay” isn’t so perfect anymore from personal experience. Axe Throwing?? Risk! So risky in fact, they have you sign a waiver. There are three decisions with risk - Do you need to take it? Do you have the ability to take it? Are you willing to take it? Need, Ability, Willingness. I didn’t need to go axe throwing, but I wanted to (competition is good) and I had the ability to do it. So we did it. So how does it relate to planning? Man, how doesn’t it. We talk about risk on both sides of planning - growth and downside protection. Life and Disability Insurance are two key things I talk about to remove risk for the foreseeable future. So, let’s ask the questions - Do we need it - Do you have a family? Kids? Home? Someone relying on your income? I mean, you are relying on your income. Do you have the means (ability) to cover it - Cash flow? Assets? Savings? Do you have the willingness? 🤷♂️ That’s what you have to ask yourself. Is it important enough, or no. Investment planning is important to talk to people about - Do we need to take risk with our investments? Are you starting late? Are you behind or ahead? If you have $10m and spend $1,000/mo., you probably don’t need to. If you spend a lot, but don’t have a lot saved, you likely need to. Do you have the ability to take risk with the money? Another way of putting it - do you have any money/assets/resources to take risks with? Lastly, are you willing to take that risk? Can you stomach the market going down? Do you cheer it on when it marches up? How long until retirement? And on it goes. All good questions to ask yourself around planning for the future. Sometimes we can easily answer these questions, and sometimes their is bias to our answers. Have someone in your corner who can remove the bias and help with unemotional decisions. — Yes.
