Request a Phone Conference: Reach out to the teacher or school administration and request a phone conference. This way, you can still have a conversation with the teacher and discuss your child's academic progress, behavior, and any concerns you may have. 2. Schedule a Video Conference: If possible, arrange a video conference with the teacher using platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams. This allows for a more personal and interactive discussion, as you can see and hear each other during the meeting. 3. Send Questions or Concerns in Writing: If attending a conference is not feasible, you can send an email or written note to the teacher with your questions, concerns, or any information you would like to share. The teacher can then respond with their feedback or suggestions. 4. Request a Separate Meeting: If none of the above options work, consider scheduling a separate meeting with the teacher at a mutually convenient time. This can be done in person, over the phone, or through video conferencing. Make sure to provide the teacher with your availability and reasons for requesting a separate meeting. Regardless of the method chosen, it is important to maintain open communication with the teacher throughout the school year. Confession: I hesitated to "move" my business online and tutor through Zoom for the longest time. 🤔 I rationalized my reluctance, of course, but the truth is - I was SCARED. When I finally did it, though, it helped my business AND my students. 🤗 However, YOUR hesitancy is JUSTIFIED! I've heard from several parents that their child "can't do Zoom" based on their experiences of "Zoom school." And here's the thing - throwing 30 kids sit into an online Zoom class for 7 hours during the middle of a global emergency when no one had time to prepare for such a transition - let's just say it was not the greatest experience for MOST students. It was hard for everyone, teachers and students alike. Full stop. But 1:1 Zoom classes with me are NOT the same thing.
