Embracing the digital era, where phone and virtual meetings have become indispensable tools for connecting and collaborating, bridging distances with ease. Whether it's catching up with friends, collaborating with colleagues, or attending remote workshops, these platforms offer a seamless blend of convenience and efficiency. In a world where time is precious and distances are vast, phone and virtual meetings serve as the modern-day lifeline, bringing people together and fostering meaningful connections, one call at a time. A man once reached out to me to teach his two children basic computer knowledge and called it home tutoring. I told him that the class will be held online,he tried convincing me otherwise. I'm still waiting for him to embrace virtual meeting in this digital era Oga hasn't been forthcoming. #PhoneMeetings #VirtualMeetings #StayConnected" #techcareerskills #techsavvy

📢 Attention all parents! 🚫 Can't make it to the conference in person? Don't worry, we've got you covered! 🙌🏼📲 Stay connected and informed with our alternative participation options. 💻📞 Join in and never miss a beat! 🎯 1. Request a Phone Conference: Reach out to the teacher or school administration and request a phone conference. This way, you can still have a conversation with the teacher and discuss your child's academic progress, behavior, and any concerns you may have. 2. Schedule a Video Conference: If possible, arrange a video conference with the teacher using platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams. This allows for a more personal and interactive discussion, as you can see and hear each other during the meeting. 3. Send Questions or Concerns in Writing: If attending a conference is not feasible, you can send an email or written note to the teacher with your questions, concerns, or any information you would like to share. The teacher can then respond with their feedback or suggestions. 4. Request a Separate Meeting: If none of the above options work, consider scheduling a separate meeting with the teacher at a mutually convenient time. This can be done in person, over the phone, or through video conferencing. Make sure to provide the teacher with your availability and reasons for requesting a separate meeting. Regardless of the method chosen, it is important to maintain open communication with the teacher throughout the school year. Regularly check in with the teacher to stay updated on your child's progress, and discuss any concerns or questions you may have. Remember, the goal is to work together to support your child's education and well-being. #ConferenceConnectivity #StayInformed #ParentPower #mrsashburysworld #authorrekiabeverly #mrsashbury #keeplearningandloving

Confession: I hesitated to "move" my business online and tutor through Zoom for the longest time. 🤔 I rationalized my reluctance, of course, but the truth is - I was SCARED. When I finally did it, though, it helped my business AND my students. 🤗 However, YOUR hesitancy is JUSTIFIED! I've heard from several parents that their child "can't do Zoom" based on their experiences of "Zoom school." And here's the thing - throwing 30 kids sit into an online Zoom class for 7 hours during the middle of a global emergency when no one had time to prepare for such a transition - let's just say it was not the greatest experience for MOST students. It was hard for everyone, teachers and students alike. Full stop. But 1:1 Zoom classes with me are NOT the same thing. In fact, they're not that different from face-to-face lessons at all! 🧑💻👩💻 Let's have a little bit of fun! Post-it Sunday 3/24/23- school or keeping up with family over video * Zoom, Teams and Skype, oh my! There are many different ways to reach out and contact someone, be it for school, for work, or for family. If there is one thing that the pandemic has given us it is the ability to adapt to conference platforms. And to keep in touch. * #callnurse #icantbecauseimoncall #workingnurse #writingnurse #dispatchesfromtheeveningshift #cookiethursdayisathing * https://lnkd.in/eBZ-DJCj

Clear, simple and useful guidance as always from Dave M. 👍
Associate Director of Instructional Design & Media at Columbia University School of Professional Studies
For any instructors out there who may have to suddenly shift from face-to-face classes to synchronous Zoom sessions, here are a couple of tips and recommendation to make sure your session runs smoothly from the get go. 🖥 Note: I highly recommend getting a second screen. If you are just doing this from a laptop alone, you are going to be very frustrated and will probably waste a lot of time during the session. 👩💻 Also, for Zoom/GoogleMeet/BlueJeans/Teams whatever software your institution uses, DO A TRAINING and use the training session to update your settings and enable and disable what you need. (This will help you sooooo much). 🖼 The image below is an example of how to chunk a Zoom session class agenda. At the beginning of your session: FIRST -Run a tech check and review "netiquette". -Make sure the equipment is in working order on your end and on theirs. -Make sure you can hear and see everyone and they can see and hear you. [Suggestion: Get everyone to turn on their cameras to make sure they're working, after that they can turn them off if they need to. Make sure people one by one answer a roll call to check mics, then have them mute their mics to start off and keep them muted when they're not talking.] NEXT -Set the standard for class participation/rules of engagement. -Should students contribute to the chat? Just speak up? Use the raise hand feature? -How will you track participation? A simple paper and pencil will suffice. -How often should they participate? What counts as quality participation? THEN -Walk students through how class sessions will go. -Share and review the session agenda and review the learning objectives. -Make sure students have access to any required tools or shared documentation. #instructionaldesign #blendedlearning #onlineinstruction
