“What if….” versus “If only…” Do you wonder what it would be like if things were different? And if so, do you then think about the barriers or the possibilities? A lot has been said in the past about the power of positive thinking but in many cases the difference is in whether you see the barriers as hurdles or walls. Avoid the “If only…”’s and think instead about the “What if…”’s. And if you’d like some help with that then contact your nearest RedRoute Marketing Effectiveness Consultant https://lnkd.in/d8u-ND3G RAAVE®️ Reports - Fortune Foretold

Things I wish I’d known about marketing early on in my 25 year career… 🕰️ You can’t turn back the clock 🤔 But you can reflect on what you wish you’d known ☀️ And use that knowledge to shine a light on your path - and others’- moving forward 📩 Today I sent an email to everyone on our mailing list with some of the things I wish I’d known about marketing earlier. 1️⃣ The First one is how there is so much about how to DO marketing - and not as much about how to THINK about and STRATEGISE and PLAN long term. 🍀 I was lucky - I was taught these skills early enough. They helped me forge a career path and be a successful Strategic Marketing Consultant. 😞 But so many business owners and marketers get to them too late. Because they get caught up in the DO this, DO that, DO more marketing narrative. 🤑It costs them money, energy, and sometimes their business 😭 👇🏼What do you wish you’d known about marketing earlier? Share in the comments! 👇🏼 #marketingtraining #marketingtips #marketingconsultant #marketingplan #marketinglife #marketingstrategies #marketingcourse #marketingadvice #marketingguru #marketingtip #professionaldevelopment #marketingspaces #themarketingspaces #marketing #hampshirebusiness

Early in my career, I faced this dilemma often - my clients wanted quick results, but I knew that it took time to build a solid strategy. 💡 Here’s what I learned in the first few years of my marketing journey: ✅ Focus on setting realistic expectations from the start. ❌ Don’t promise overnight success—it rarely works. ✅ Educate clients about the process and timeline. ❌ Avoid shortcuts that compromise quality. ✅ Show progress with small wins and clear metrics. ❌ Don’t get discouraged by initial slow growth. Nothing is going to damage your reputation as a marketer more than overpromising and under delivering! Have an honest conversation, and align your clients on expectations. Remember, successful marketing is a marathon, not a sprint. 🏃♂️ What strategies have worked for you in managing client expectations? #MarketingStrategies #ClientExpectations #digitalmarketing #digitaladvertising #performancemarketing

If your CEO 'doesn't get marketing' is it their fault, or is it yours? Throughout my career I've worked in both types of organisations - those that see the value in marketing, and those that don't. (Thankfully now in the former, the latter can be frustrating). In my younger (less experienced) days, I would have absolutely laid the blame at the board's door - citing closed minds and lack of understanding. These days, I default to questioning myself first: - Have I accurately detailed the value prop in business language rather than marketing language? - Am I just spouting out marketing metrics or am I framing them in a way that makes them relevant to our strategic business objectives? (i.e. does the board care about a CTR/web page views or do they care about what it actually means to the business?) - Am I articulating why brand impacts the bottom line - or am I blindly showcasing a new colour palette or brand codes and expecting them to be interested? - Have I suitably educated on 'the long and the short' of marketing and how both strategies should be in play simultaneously and why? The older me sees a lack of board-level marketing understanding as my issue first. This approach doesn't always work (closed minds do exist), but if you find yourself in a frustrating situation try this approach if you haven't already. #marketing #brand #marketing101 #managingup #marketingconsultant #marketingconsulting

Sharing an amazing piece of marketing science and strategy. Ritson is a true professor of marketing and I'm never more proud of our profession than when you see how he dissects what we do, how we do it, and where we need to focus to create both strategy and tactics for maximum effect. My favorite takeaways are: 1) the Market Orientation aka MORTN scale assessment: how often are you assessing the extent to which your business objectives are matching your customer needs and satisfaction; and 2) the importance of the upstream work of research to inform diagnosis and strategy (2 of the top 3 marketing pillars; the 3rd being downstream tactical execution.) Too often in marketing it is easy to focus on the promotional stuff and not do the real work of developing your understanding of your targets and your markets. Don't miss this!
