Last week, the Better team said goodbye to 2024 with an office Christmas party. 🎉 And it was fun! 🥳
People put on their dancing shoes and shiny outfits, all teams joined the party, there was food and drinks, and pub quiz, and dancing. 💃🏻🕺🏽
Thank you to all who joined, it was an evening of joy and good energy ❤️. And now, we are ready to step into the new year. 🌟

Give your team an afternoon or full day to spend with family and friends or declare a meeting-free day so everyone can focus, wrap up work, or simply breathe.
🎄 Team celebrations
Take your team out for lunch, dinner or some other form of festive activity. Not all located near each other? Host a virtual celebration, share stories, celebrate achievements whilst enjoying mince pies, festive music and games.
🤶 A personalised note
Write a handwritten note, thoughtful message or even make a call recognising their hard work and commitment, expressing gratitude for specific achievements throughout the year.
🌟 Go public
Recognise the whole team in a meeting or through a team kudos board or shout-out wall, this will create a sense of togetherness and collective appreciation.
🎁 A thoughtful gift
Even if budgets are tight, a small, surprise and thoughtful gift will show your appreciation and make your team feel valued.
Our team members should feel valued throughout the year. Thank yous, recognition and gestures of appreciation should be baked into your culture and ways of working. If they're not, now is a great time to start...

The Harpoon Christmas party was amazing this year. 🎄
Not simply because it was a great party, but it really felt like it set us up for success as a team in 2025.
We kicked off the day with a strategic session, discussing our budget for 2025 and identifying the key truths we need to align with to make it happen.
We tapped into our big dreams.
We asked ourselves:
What would our wildest dream be? (Hint: shoot for the stars to reach the top of the mountain!)
Then, we focused on key attitudes we’ll need to make 2025 a success and we agreed on 6 values:
1. Growth Mindset
2. Resilience
3. Courage
4. Focus
5. Agility
6. Team Spirit
These will be the foundation of our company projects for the year ahead. 💪
To bring these values to life, we painted 10 canvases, one per team member.
Each painting became a collective work of art—truly a team effort.
After all the creativity and brainstorming, we wrapped up the day with a fantastic dinner, exchanged Christmas gifts, and celebrated the season. 🎁

At a couple of places I’ve worked at, fostering gratitude became as easy as sending digital tacos thanks to the HeyTaco app on Slack. With just a few clicks, team members can publicly express appreciation and lift up their colleagues, building stronger connections with each delicious tortilla.
