The self-assessment payment deadline for the 2022/23 tax year was on 31st January 2024. HMRC will charge penalties for any amounts which remain unpaid after the deadline. As well as the penalty charges, interest will be running on any unpaid tax from the deadline to the date in which the tax is fully paid. There is a time to pay arrangement you can make with HMRC, and this will avoid having to pay further penalties. To make this arrangement you will have to contact HMRC before 1st March 2024. If you are unsure if you have any tax to pay, please contact us. #selfassessment #tax #deadline #hmrc #timetopay

#WednesdayWisdom By now HMRC should have prepared and sent out any simple tax calculations. If you are required to complete a self assessment tax return, your advisor will need to know about these calculations as they will not appear in your self assessment account – and the subsequent payments or refunds will have an impact on your tax position. #accountancy #tax #HMRC #accountantswithadifference
