As a psychologist, I think World Suicide Prevention Day serves as a helpful reminder of how critical it is to look after our mental health and provide support to one another. Every life is valuable, and having an honest conversation about mental health can save lives. We must provide secure environments where people are at ease disclosing their emotions and asking for assistance. We can make a major effect and help prevent suicide by being kind, listening, and providing support. Together, we can demonstrate that no one is alone and that every life is genuinely important. #worldsuicideprecentionday #letsstandtogethertopreventsuicide #ownthemind #healwithzeal

Understanding Suicide Terminologies Mental health discussions, especially around suicide, need clarity and empathy. Understanding these terms can help us provide better support and foster a more empathetic environment. The topic of suicide should be approached with care and compassion. Whether engaging in dialogue, talking to someone with lived experience, or writing about the issue in a professional setting, being mindful of our language is about more than just being politically correct; it’s about saving lives. As our understanding of suicide evolves, so too must the way we talk about it. So how can we change our language to better support those experiencing mental health crises? #Health #MentalHealth #MentalHealthMatters #suicideawareness

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, know that you are not alone. In 2021, 1.7 million Americans attempted suicide and over 48,000 died by suicide. It can happen to anyone. As someone who has personally experienced the loss of loved ones to suicide, I understand the pain it can cause. That's why I want to share the National Crisis Hotline number, 988, which is available for anyone to call. Please don't hesitate to reach out for help if you or someone you know needs it. The hotline will provide you with local assistance. Let's prioritize our mental health and support each other during these challenging times. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #988CrisisHotline #veteranscrisisline #ShowUsYour22 #suicideprevention

💭 Mental Health Awareness Week aims to break down barriers and have open conversations about the challenges we all face, focusing on severe mental illnesses that often get overlooked. While progress has been made in discussing common mental health issues, the fact that 1 in 10 adults in the UK battle severe mental illnesses like schizophrenia, OCD, or bipolar disorder is alarming. This week, the goal is to move the conversation forward by sharing personal stories, listening actively, educating ourselves about different mental illnesses, and challenging stigma through open conversations. 🤗 Together, we can create a more supportive world where everyone feels comfortable talking about their mental health and getting the support they need. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek.
