Some people believe that taking NDT will make Hashimoto's worse. The idea here is that because NDT (like Armour thyroid) comes form an animal source, the animal proteins found inside may interact with the immune system which is already flared up in those with autoimmune disease. This then would cause an increase in thyroid antibodies. But is this a concern? Not really, especially when you look at the numbers. There are millions of people taking NDT thyroid medications and we don't see millions of cases of high antibodies. But I have seen it a few times so it does appear to be relevant for some people. #hashimoto's #thyroidmedication #thyroidmedicine #hashimotos #hashimotosthyroiditis
