Varane Decides to Hang Up the Boots ⚽ Varane has announced his retirement from professional football on social media, effective immediately due to a recent injury. He will, however, maintain a non-playing role at Como. Let's take a moment to appreciate his legendary 22-trophy cabinet: FIFA World Cup x1 UEFA Nations League x1 Champions League x4 FIFA Club World Cup x4 UEFA Super Cup x3 La Liga x3 Spanish Super Cup x3 Copa Del Rey x1 FA Cup x1 Carabao Cup x1 Fair to say Raphael Varane bowed out as one of the most decorated CBs of all time. However, is he an overrated or an underrated baller? 🤔 Despite starting his professional career at such a young age, I believe Varane was underrated at Real Madrid and a crucial asset at his best. However, injuries ultimately prevented him from cementing his status as a true legend of the game. 📊 According to Transfermarkt GmbH & Co. KG, Varane missed a total of 800 days (160 games). That’s up to 2 years and 2 months of injuries! 🤯 His battle with injuries significantly impacted his career, leading to missed opportunities during crucial seasons. In my opinion, Varane was a phenomenal defender at his peak. Unfortunately, longevity is essential when discussing being "one of the greats," and he didn't fit that criteria. Injuries stopped him from becoming the player we all wanted to see. Do you agree with my opinion? Or do you believe he bowed out of the game as an underrated CB? #BeyondThe90 #FootballOpinions #SoccerTalk #FootballDebate #RealMadrid #ManchesterUnited #RaphaelVarane #JoinTheConversation
