Meta released Meta Motivo, designed to control the movements of human-like digital agents, holds the potential to significantly elevate the Metaverse experience. Additionally, the Large Concept Model introduces a groundbreaking approach by decoupling reasoning from language representation. It continues to be (too) early for the true Metaverse, but we are undoubtedly heading in that direction. The shift of investments from the Metaverse to the Generative AI was the most appropriate move to, paradoxically, accelerate the arrival of the true Metaverse.

Can We Play God in the Metaverse? The Metaverse has immense potential, including the possibility of creating a world where characters operate with advanced artificial intelligence and true autonomy. By using conditional statements like nested ifs and switch cases, combined with random numbers, we can create complex and unpredictable behaviors in these characters. These random numbers, influenced by various experiences and situations, change their probabilities of occurrence, much like how humans make decisions under different circumstances. However, there are significant technical and ethical challenges. Developing AI with genuine autonomy requires highly advanced technology and careful attention to ethical and legal issues. Nevertheless, theoretically, it is possible. If we can create AI that has perceptions and emotions similar to humans, we might say they experience something akin to life and consciousness. Since we still don’t have a precise definition of the concepts of soul and consciousness, this question ultimately depends on philosophical beliefs and personal viewpoints.
