Job Requirements: Education: -BA in Journalism, Business Analytics, Communication, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations or any related field. Experience: -At least 3 years of experience in an analytical role (including data analysis, and market research) within marketing research, media intelligence, and data technology or consulting firm. -Familiar with data visualization and dashboard tools, Microsoft Excel, pivot tables, etc. -Experience in both qualitative and quantitative reporting. -At least 2 years of experience in a managerial position. Have you seen the "Hiring Hack" going around TikTok? It's stressing me out. The “hack?” Recruiters filter resumes by only using the job title they’re hiring for. For instance, if you’re hiring for a Financial Analyst, you only pull resumes with the exact “Financial Analyst” position from their previous work. What’s so bad about that? You’re looking for someone with experience, right? First, you miss out on completely qualified candidates whose previous job titles don’t exactly match up with that verbiage. They may have the skills you’re looking for—they just have a different title. For instance, if you’re hiring for a Marketing Specialist position and search only for that phrase, you miss out on Marketing Coordinators, Communications Specialists, and others with similar skill sets and experience. Second, you should be hiring someone for the job they’re about to do, not the job they had in the past. Considering a candidate’s ability and willingness to learn while in the role is way more important than just looking at previous titles. And at PI, where we stress optimizing each and every employee as an individual, we understand that everything you have to bring to the table as a candidate won’t exactly be found on your resume. Let's learn! If you are still on entry level data analyst like me then you need to hear this why you SHOULD avoid guided projects in your CV/Resume. "What are guided projects ? Guided projects are projects that are structured learning experiences that combine hands-on work with expert guidance". The common things nowadays is "coffee sales analysis" and "pizza sale analysis". The truth is that the hiring team no longer see this as PROJECTS. Instead they tend to see it as Red flag why because it shows how good you are in copying other people's work. We are trying to show our skills through projects, right ? Then what is wrong with this project's that we mention ? don't think from your side, Think from the hiring team's side Most of this project are from the YouTube and they have alot of viewers. even if we consider 50% percent of there number then just imagine how many aspiring data analysis would have created this same project. Remember hiring team sees hundreds of resumes and portfolios daily basis Just imagine how many times they have would have seen the same Tittles of projects again and again they would know that these projects are publicly available for everyone Meaning you have simply copied pasted the entire project from YouTube So now if i want to hire a data analyst the how would i judge you or your technical skills? What is the use of pizza or coffee sales analysis project for my company? Sometimes a cost is just a cost. But what if it wasn't? Whenever we hired someone at my agency, we looked for ways to turn the cost into a source of income. They might be joining as a PPC Director, but come with armed with a little black book of former clients. Or they might be joining as a Data Analyst, but have the skills to open up a new service offering. When we had 80 people, there were only really 2 roles that were true costs. As in not generating revenue either from new business or upsells. HR and Finance. But probably we could have found a way with them too! If you're hiring because you're growing, or just re-filling an existing role, have a think about who you could hire that could not only do the job, but have an impact on the top line.
