To my senior executive friends, it's time for a gender pay audit - and it's not as hard as you might think. Today, on International Women's Day, let's not just celebrate the talented women we work with, but also recognize the ongoing discrimination they face. Shockingly, women still earn just 84 cents for every dollar earned by men, with black women earning just 70 cents and Latinas only 65 cents. It's not just about the pay gap, either; women are also over-represented in lower wage jobs and burdened with domestic and caregiving responsibilities, no matter their level at work. These are our colleagues, our daughters, our wives, our sisters - people who have supported us in our own careers and dreams. So, I urge my leader friends to take action and conduct a gender pay audit at your organization. Let's make a real difference and ensure that all women are valued and compensated fairly. #InternationalWomensDay #GenderPayGap #EqualPay #FairCompensation

Despite significant strides, the gender pay gap remains prevalent👇 • Women earned 82 cents for every dollar men earned. • This discrepancy is even more pronounced for Black and Hispanic women. • If progress continues at its current pace, women won’t achieve equal pay until 2056. How can we address this issue? 👀 Here are actionable insights from HR Advantage: • Prioritize pay transparency to counteract biases and promote fairness. • Remove inquiries about pay history to disrupt the perpetuation of inequality. • Ensure clear salary ranges are provided on job postings to set fair expectations. Take action today by implementing these adjustments in our own businesses, fostering fairness and equality! 🤝 Source: https://lnkd.in/gTpKM39D #hradvantage #humanresources #equalpay #equalpayequalwork

Today is Equal Pay Day, according to the National Committee on Pay Equity, March 12th, 2024, is the date that symbolizes how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year. How crazy is that? My first thought is how can I help? What actions can I take or encourage others to take to make things better and close the gender pay gap? On All Women's Equal Pay Day, here are Three Actions for Advocating for Equal Pay in the Workplace. 1️⃣ Audit and Adjust Pay Practices, implement regular pay audits to identify and correct disparities. Transparently adjust wages to ensure equal pay for equal work. 2️⃣ Promote Leadership Diversity, actively support women's advancement into leadership roles. Diversity in decision-making positions fosters a culture of equality and inclusion. 3️⃣ Educate and Empower, raise awareness about pay inequality and empower individuals to advocate for their worth. Knowledge is power in the fight for equality. #EqualPayDay #AdvocateForEquality #ChangeStartsNow #WomenEmpowerment #LittleStepsBigChange

Did you know that today, March 12, 2024, is All Women's Equal Pay Day? It started in 1996 as a public awareness event to illustrate the gap between men and women's wages. And, get this, March 12th symbolizes how far into 2024 women must work to catch up to men's wages and earn what men made in 2023! What can you do to level the wage earning playing field? Look to California where Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the First Partner of California, and California Partners Project has developed "The Equal Pay Playbook" designed to guide companies "to achieve their equal pay objectives." Though she lays out six concrete steps, she also acknowledges that "harassment and sexual violence are still significant barriers that still need to be addressed to ensure a safe and equitable environment for all women." If a man and a woman both started working on January 1, 2023, it would have taken the average woman until today, March 12, 2024, to catch up to the man’s yearly earnings. Today we recognize the ongoing fight for gender pay equality and the importance of closing the gender pay gap by celebrating Equal Pay Day. Equal Pay Day originated in the U.S. in 1996 as a public awareness event that highlighted the gap between men and women’s wages. Every year it falls on the date that symbolizes how far into the new year women must work to earn the same amount that men earned in the previous year. At Payton Employment Law, PC, we’re dedicated to protecting workers’ rights, which include fair compensation. To help close the ongoing gender pay gap, we must hold companies and policymakers accountable for ensuring that women receive equal pay for equal work. #EqualPayDay #PayEquity #GenderEquality #WomensRights

Today marks a crucial moment in our pursuit of workplace equality: Equal Pay Day - It’s a stark reminder of the persistent gender pay gap that continues to affect women across all industries & backgrounds. “The gender pay gap is typically referred to in monetary terms, measuring how much women earn for every dollar a man earns. But that gap is also indirectly a marker of time, since women on average earn less and therefore have to work longer just to break even with men. How much longer? Enter Equal Pay Day — an approximate measure of just how many months into the new year a woman has to work for her earnings to catch up with what a man made in the prior year. This year, Equal Pay Day falls on [March 12]. That means the average full-time working woman has to work about two and a half months more than the average man just to bring in what he earned last year.” (To read the full article, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gG8u6-Uw ) As we recognize this day, let’s ask ourselves: How can we collectively work towards closing this gap and ensuring fair compensation for all? Today is Equal Pay Day, the symbolic day when women's earnings "catch up" to men's from the previous year. Shockingly, women have to work over an extra 2 months to earn the same salary their male counterparts did last year. This disparity affects women across all industries and education levels. For every dollar earned by men, women make just 84 cents or less according to the latest data. The gaps are even wider for women of color. Black women make 63 cents and Latina women make 55 cents for every dollar paid to white men. This inequality limits economic security and other long-term goals. Pay equity is about more than just wages, it's about fairness, justice, and respect. Women deserve equal pay for equal work. The gender pay gap diminishes women's career opportunities and has ripple effects on families and communities. With women's wages contributing more to household incomes than ever before, families increasingly rely on women's earnings. Paying women equally would benefit families and our overall economy. While progress has been made, the gender and racial wage gaps are complex, systemic problems requiring comprehensive solutions. On this Equal Pay Day, let's make pay equity a priority in our workplaces. Conduct an internal audit, implement transparent compensation practices, implement fair hiring and promotion practices, and commit to ongoing improvement. Challenge pay discrimination wherever you see it. Together, we can work to close the gender pay gap, not just on Equal Pay Day, but every day. The time for equal pay is long overdue. #EqualPayDay #PayEquity #GenderEquality #WageGap #RacialEquality #DiversityAndInclusion https://lnkd.in/gBwMzakJ

👛 Today it is Equal Pay Day! This morning, while reading the newspaper (Financieel Dagblad), I came across a striking article: from today until the end of the year, women in the Netherlands are symbolically working "for free." The gender pay gap of 12% per hour worked is a persistent reminder of the inequality that still exists. One story particularly stood out - a young woman who discovered her male colleague, with the same role and experience, earned significantly more. When she raised the issue, she was met with excuses ranging from "he negotiated better" to comments about her appearance. Stories like this highlight why Equal Pay Day remains so important. Together, we can create more awareness and build a more inclusive and fair future. At Qdrop - Impact Analytics, we know that change starts with transparency. By providing tools to measure and analyze diversity, pay equity, and other impact metrics, we help organizations uncover gaps and take meaningful action. Today marks the day that women in the UK effectively stop getting paid. Equal Pay Day this year has fallen on today, November 20th, this day marks the day that women effectively stop getting paid due to the gender pay gap. The gender pay gap is something which is hugely misunderstood and I would highly suggest every person reading this post to spend some time reading about the wonderful Fawcett Society to educate themselves about the nuances that are involved with the gender pay gap. At the risk of getting too political, there have been some major set backs for women on a global scale, not just looking at Trump's re-election, but that Iraq are drafting legislation to lower the legal age of marriage to 9 years old. A lot of people are not aware of the feminist and gender issues that are still rampant in the UK, and it is vital these issues are still kept in the main stream media and in conversation. Please take a look at the comments below for some links about equal pay day and the gender pay gap, I can promise you that you will learn something that will make you think and reconsider. We need a significate shift and clear goals to work towards narrowing the gap and raising awareness is something we can all help with.

When an editorial is written in The Wall Street Journal that basically says it is women's own fault for being in lower paying jobs and that explains the gender pay gap, I have to speak up and point out that discrimination against women does still exist. Is the gender pay gap entirely due to discrimination? No, but it is also not entirely due to women freely choosing lower paying jobs. Both are reasons for the pay gap. So I wrote a letter to the editor about that editorial to give my informed reasons for the gender pay gap. #mereditheconomics #genderpaygap #genderequality https://lnkd.in/e8W_tm4v
