Thanks so much Candace for this valuable, practical and insightful session on Goverance!
If you work at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, you know that volunteering in our communities is something that is encouraged and supported. While back in Saskatoon for the holidays, I facilitated a workshop where we shared our experiences and best practices in governance (which is way more fun than it sounds!).What a great crew - these are board and executive leaders from United Way Saskatoon and Area agencies. Thank you all for the opportunity and I left inspired by your leadership and commitment to the health and well-being of our communities.

Honoring Selflessness: Beyond Company Volunteer Days Today, on Pat Tillman's death anniversary, his legacy of selfless service resonates deeply. While company volunteer days are fantastic - fostering team spirit and giving back - true selflessness extends beyond those designated hours. Imagine the impact if we all carried that spirit into our communities every day. There's an elderly neighbor who could use help with groceries. A local animal shelter overflowing with animals longing for a walk. Maybe a park cleanup neglected after a long winter. These are the countless opportunities where your time can make a world of difference. Selflessness isn't about grand gestures. It's about looking around and identifying a need you can fulfill, big or small. It's about lending a hand without expecting anything in return. Pat Tillman walked away from a lucrative NFL career to serve his country. His sacrifice reminds us that true fulfillment often comes from putting others first. So, today, and every day, let's honor his legacy by: Seeking out volunteer opportunities in our communities: Find a cause that resonates with you and donate your time. Looking for everyday ways to help: Offer to help a struggling colleague, hold the door for someone with their hands full, or simply offer a kind word to someone who seems down. Remember, even the smallest acts of selflessness can have a ripple effect, creating a more connected and compassionate community. Let's strive to be the change we want to see, one selfless act at a time.

This morning, I kicked off Thanksgiving volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club of Bend, helping set up for the I Like Pie fundraiser—and it was so much fun! I might be frozen solid (we started at 5:30 am and it was 22 degrees 🥶 😆) but it was such an energy-giving way to start the day. Now, as I prepare to host Thanksgiving for the first time (woohoo!), I’ve been reflecting on something that’s become a grounding force for me: gratitude. A while back, I got into the habit of writing down five things I’m grateful for each night—along with why. (Fun fact: Including the “why” helps strengthen neural pathways that make gratitude a more ingrained habit! 🧠) When life gets hectic, I don’t always write them down, but even saying them in my head still works wonders. Today, I’m sharing five things I’m grateful for right now: 1️⃣ Volunteering this morning: Because it’s a reminder of the power of community and giving back. 2️⃣ Hosting Thanksgiving: Because it’s a chance to create memories with family and friends around a shared table and start new traditions. 3️⃣ The first snowfall: Because I love the magic of winter and it means ski season (and curl up by the fire season) is here! 4️⃣ Moments of joy: Because the little things in life—quiet walks, belly laughs—make all the difference. 5️⃣ LinkedIn & this community: Because when I first started posting, I had no idea what I was doing, and over the years I’ve found such a passion for writing, sharing, and connecting with incredible people. (Perhaps cliché but true!) This simple practice reminds me to focus on what’s going well—even on the toughest days. What’s one thing you’re grateful for today and WHY? Let me know in the comments! Wishing you all a wonderful, gratitude-filled day.

HAPPY NEW YEAR from all the team at Step Together Volunteering! The New Year is a time for new beginnings - a chance to reflect, change your routine, make new friends and connections, or set some new goals for yourself. For most, it can simply mean pressing the ‘restart/refresh’ button, or even changing your whole direction in life - but its not always as easy as that when you don't know where to start. This can be said for many of those we support, particularly veterans and Armed Forces personnel on recovery duty and those facing an unplanned medical discharge. What actually comes next? Taking small steps can help you make gradual improvements, find purpose, and achieve your goals. Remember, the secret of getting ahead is getting started and start wherever you are and start small. If you’re struggling to know how to get started, then contact a member of our experienced Armed Forces Community team who will help you build a personalised plan and take those first steps to a new you and a new future. 🌟 Going Above and Beyond: Value-Added Offerings for Our Clients 🌟 At Enhanced Healthcare, we're dedicated to providing more than just staffing solutions – we believe in adding value at every opportunity. From free training to entertainment days, donations, and volunteering initiatives, we're committed to making a positive impact in our communities. This month alone, we've been busy putting our values into action. We've completed three volunteering days with one of our partners, rolling up our sleeves to give their gardens and patios a much-needed facelift just in time for BBQ season. And we're not stopping there – we're already planning for next month, to bring joy and laughter to residents and staff alike. But that's not all. We recently held an entertainment day, where residents of a local nursing home enjoyed music, games, and companionship, courtesy of Enhanced Healthcare. It's moments like these that remind us why we do what we do – to make a real difference in the lives of others. On the training front, one of our national clients took advantage of our free training offerings, enrolling their team in our safer moving and handling of people and basic life support course. They utilised five free training spots to update their existing team and expedite the onboarding process for a new starter. Here you can see a sneak peak of them in action! It's all part of our commitment to sustainable staffing solutions – investing in the skills and development of our workforce for the benefit of all. We're proud of the work we do, but we're always striving to do more. That's why we'd love to hear from you – what has your agency done for you recently? Share your stories and let's continue to inspire each other to make a difference. #ValueAdded #CommunityImpact #FreeTraining #Volunteering #ClientPartnership #EnhancedHealthcare

Alright MI we have one more day! There are so many volunteer shifts and ways to get involved. I don’t like the idea of cold calling people, so I am not phone banking, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to be involved. Soles to the polls helping folks get to the polling station, volunteering in the office, like I just did:), putting out yard signs, sending text messages. There are so many ways to get involved! Text a friend. Check out mobilize.us to find where and how you can volunteer in your home state or in a battleground state. No matter where you live, this election is important not only because of who’s at the top of the ticket but all of the down ballot races are the races that truly impact us on a day-to-day. Don’t know who’s on your ballot go to https://lnkd.in/equrQMVT and build your ballot so you know exactly who you’re voting for and what they stand for. Don’t be the person holding up the line at the voting booth because you need to research all of the non-partisan positions. There are SO many this year. Who are judges are, who is on our school boards all matter! Make sure you are voting for the folks that represent your values. Education, history, peace, love, joy, and an America, where we all belong. That’s what I am voting for!!
