With the mounting pressure to survive within a mega competitive system that feasts on the same limited resources, thriving has become a privilege, and the less-privileged have it none. We are aware that sheltering those experiencing homelessness is not sustainable by itself and would not solve the homelessness crisis that has taken over our bridges, streets, and economy. This is why Sheltered Hope Initiative has taken its time to familiarise itself with the homeless community, their needs, and priorities. As a result, we were able to come up with sustainable solutions that would help transition the unhoused to self-sufficient individuals through skill, training, and employment empowerment programs developed for sheltered residents The demand on shelter is high, but the resources are almost unavailable. We all desire to live in a better world and create a better community for our children to thrive, and it starts with a little impact donation. It starts with you. #housingsolutions #homelessshelters #survivelagos #donatetoday #charitystartswithyou #sustainableshelter

🌟 Did you know that only 18% of people experiencing homelessness are chronically homeless, meaning they’ve been without a home for three or more years? 🌟 Most people have a default image in their minds of a homeless person, often picturing someone who is chronically homeless. However, this represents only a small portion of those experiencing homelessness. The majority are in need of a temporary helping hand to get back on their feet. At Homeless ID Project, we provide essential identification documents that open doors to housing, employment, and vital services. Every ID we issue is a step toward ending homelessness for good. We are hard at work with our partners at Keys to Change to get people documents and housing to end their homelessness! Join us in empowering lives and creating lasting change. 💪❤️ #HomelessIDProject #EndHomelessness #EmpowerLives #MakeADifference #CommunitySupport #IdentityMatters #GiveIDHope #HomelessEmpowerment #IDSupport #SupportHIDP #NonProfit #Charity #Community #Donate #NonProfitOrganization #Volunteer #GiveBack #Support #Fundraising #SocialGood #DoGood #Change #Help #CollarborationIs🔑

Our friends @Justlife carried out research into women’s experiences of homelessness in Brighton & Hove. It’s a story of domestic violence, unhealthy relationships, complex feelings around motherhood and lack of basic safety while in temporary accommodation. We’re fundraising this week to create a year-long programme of free dance classes with and for women who have experienced homelessness. Everything you donate before midday on Tuesday 26 March will be doubled by @BigGive here: https://lnkd.in/e5jSDYD3 Thankyou 🙏 #ArtsForImpact #homelessness #danceforwellbeing #womeninrecovery #fundraising #Brighton&Hove Video description: A video showing roads, streets and cars with text about three things you might not know about temporary accommodation: - it's often not temporary. The shortage in social housing means people can wait years for their own home - living conditions can be poor. Common complaints include damp, overcrowding, infestations and feeling unsafe - people in temporary accommodation are often not considered homeless because they have a roof over their heads

Did you know that over 38,000 young people aged 15–24 years presented alone to a homelessness service in 2022–23? Of these young people, almost half experienced mental ill-health, and over one-third experienced domestic and family violence. Most of these young people needed short- or long-term accommodation, and most were turned away due to a lack of capacity. These statistics only scratch the surface of issues that young people experiencing homelessness face. To have statistics like this in a country like Australia is not acceptable; together, we can have a tangible impact, and now is the time to act. #wehavetodobetter #YHMD

✨ Hopestead’s Impact Report 2023-24 - #VoiceofHope ✨ Watch the highlights from our Impact Report – this week, we’re focusing on our next project #VoiceofHope We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve already achieved, and we’re excited about our plans for the next 12 months. 📣 We plan to support a growing number of people and launch a new project called Voice of Hope. Voice of Hope will campaign for better outcomes for those we support by raising awareness of homelessness and the importance of housing in general. 🏛️ We will urge politicians and policymakers to drive long-term, positive changes that can end homelessness for good. We’re ambitious and determined to break the cycle of homelessness. We know this can only be done by working in partnership with others. But we must act. At Hopestead, we believe that doing nothing is not an option. Because everyone deserves a place to call home. #Hopestead #impact #impactreport #charity #homelessness #homelessnesssupport #endhomelessness #EastofEngland #EastAnglia

What I should have said. ‘But do you actually prevent homelessness?’ This frustrating question and my inability to answer it ‘adequately’, was often asked of me when I ran Your Own Place. My inability to answer it with the data required was the reason for a number of lost opportunities. A question or bar, I might add, rarely applied to their other delivery teams. Of course you could argue that as a homelessness prevention social enterprise, I should have had the answer. But below is how I should have answered it. Stick to your guns. Stick to your values. ———————————————— If it’s time for any kind of strategy refresh or review, with any of your teams, beneficiaries or Board, then from experience and place of inclusivity and fun, I’d love to help by facilitating review workshops with you. Feel free to message me - no hard sell, none of us need that. #thirdsector #community #voluntarysector #charity #purpose #strategy #mission #vision #values #purpose #nonprofit #socialgood #inclusion

We're inspired by the belief that while helping one person might not change the entire world, it can indeed change the world for that one person. 🥰 ⠀ This powerful notion drives us every day to reach out, support, and uplift individuals experiencing homelessness. 🙌💜 ⠀ Be the change in someone's world. Your support, whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness, can transform lives. ✨⠀ 🌐 https://lnkd.in/ey_ipkDm ⠀ #bigdreamsbiggerhearts #changetheworld #makeadifference #individualimpact #supportsystem #endhomelessness #housingforall #educationmatters #jobplacement #mentalhealthsupport #changemakers #giveback #volunteerism #communitysupport #actsofkindness #nonprofitimpact #empowerment #hopeandhealing #transforminglives #bethechange #helpingothers #socialgood #lifetransformation #upliftingothers #spreadawareness

According to the National Youth in Transition Database, only 26% of foster care youth secure stable housing after aging out, leaving too many vulnerable to homelessness. These young people deserve a fighting chance, not just survival. Let’s work together to provide the stability and support they desperately need. Every youth deserves a place to call home. Consider donating to I Pour Life to help empower older, at-risk youth: https://loom.ly/yISLmiA #FosterCareCrisis #SupportYouth Source: National Foster Youth Institute, March 2023.

Recipient Impact Stories | Massey Community Trust Auckland Foundation is pleased to have supported Massey Community Trust through a recent grant for their Safety Net Project. The Safety Net Project is a community-driven, youth-centred initiative aimed at ensuring that young people’s experience of homelessness is brief, rare, and non-recurring. This crucial work is all about empowering community, mobilising community resources and caring adults and communicating to rangatahi that their community cares and is putting that care into action by literally opening up their doors. Thank you as always to all the incredible community organisations like Massey Community Trust doing such important work to ensure people and communities across Tāmaki Makaurau are supported.
