Tell me if this sounds familiar.... Someone in your team behaves badly. Which one of these things do you do in response: ➢ Plan and have a conversation, albeit difficult, with the person, explaining why their behaviour is not acceptable? ➢ Have a conversation with the whole team, explaining that this type of behaviour is not acceptable, and hope the person picks up on the message? ➢ Leave it for now and hope it was just a ‘once off’? ➢ Send this person some links to professional development courses? Sending this person on a course is unlikely to shift anything without your involvement. But here’s the real question: ➢ Are you addressing the behaviour in a way that solves the issue—or just moving the problem around? ➢ Managing a team comes with its share of uncomfortable responsibilities. No one enjoys pointing out another adult’s problematic behaviour. But it’s part of the role, and how you handle it matters. So…what will you do next time?

To get the best out of anyone, you need to be humble enough to know you don't know everything and open enough to be willing to unlearn and learn new things from old colleagues and new team members. Here are some blockers that may be affecting your team's synergy and prevent you from maximizing learning opportunities. This varies for everyone but here are a few that I know: 1. Thinking you're the smartest on the team: I've always believed that everyone I meet always has something to offer and knows something that I don't know. This belief system gives me a learning posture and makes me stay open and curious to discover new things. 2. Creating walls that make you hard to reach out to: As a team player it's important to make people understand you're available if there's an issue or a blocker that needs your attention. 3. The Sir/Ma Syndrome: First of all, most will say its a cultural thing, another set might see it as a sign of respect but I'd say you're not a robot, you have a right to unlearn and ditch whatever doesn't work for you. This in particular doesn't work for me which is why part of every onboarding session is spent ensuring people unlearn this (especially with me and some of the best teams i've worked with). It's a simple way you can make your team feel comfortable enough to approach you. But as with everything, feel free to do whatever works for you. Which of these stand out for you and what are you likely to add to this list from your personal experience #teambonding #teamplayer #blockersaffectingyourteamssynergy

"I hate working in a team." Said me never. I’m perfectly capable of working solo and I've managed to do it well. But my biggest growth has come from the people I’ve worked with. I’ve learned so much by sharing ideas, hearing different perspectives, and even receiving criticism (the good, the bad, and the chaotic). If your team clicks—amazing! But even with hiccups (man we’ve all been there), there’s so much to learn. You can learn what works, what doesn’t, and how to navigate challenges better next time. Some key lessons I've picked up over the years: 1. Work smart, not hard. 2. You can learn from anyone and not just your team. 3. Ask the damn questions before it’s too late! 4. If the world didn’t end because of your mistake, don't stress. Mistakes happen, we learn and move on. 5. If you’re stuck, take a step back, work on something else, and come back with a fresh mind. 6. Advocate for yourself and your team and show appreciation—everyone needs it. What’s one lesson working in a team has taught you? #learning

During my university days, whenever there is a group project or assignment, I remembered how we do pray and hope we get the serious and academic based coursemates among us. But if it so happen that we were given otherwise, we just know that more duties and responsibilities fall on us. This can also be equal to teamwork, acting unbothered or unconcerned when it comes to your duties only drag others behind and make the job slowdown. If people grumble when you are part of their team for a task, then you know that there's need for self evaluation. How active are you in team building? It is not a form of maturity when you avoid your duty or assigned task in a group project. I hope we all do better, especially in places of work and not school alone. #teamwork #teambuilding #preciousakindeseptemberlinkedinchallenge #contentwriting

If you think your technical skills are so good that you don't need any other skills, then you're living in a world of illusion. A company will pay for your technical skills only when you are a team player and can work well with others. You may have great technical skills, and you might excel when working alone, but if you can't collaborate with a team, if you're self-centered, and if you don't have a mindset for growing together with the team, the company won't hesitate to fire you. Although working in a team might seem easy at first glance, in reality, it is much harder. It requires specific mental preparation. You should develop this skill through various extracurricular activities during your school, college, or university years.

#Grateful_for_Team and the #Power_of_Continuous_Learning! Working in a team is one of the most fulfilling experiences – not every team is the same, but when you find a great one, it’s a true gift. A good team provides more than just support; it’s a place to learn, grow, and thrive together. Every day, I’m thankful for my team and all the knowledge we share and gain from each other. #Learning_Mindset 🤔: In every role, having a learning mindset makes a huge difference. When we don't understand something, we have a choice: either we can stay silent and remain in the dark, or we can ask questions and seek clarity. Yes, asking may feel uncomfortable at times, but it prevents long-term misunderstandings. We might feel like "fools" for a moment, but staying silent means missing out on valuable growth. #Collaboration 🤝: Asking questions and sharing experiences is the core of teamwork. Every answer we receive and each piece of advice from colleagues is a tool we can carry forward, improving both current and future work. #Experience_Matters 📚: The knowledge and skills we gain from each experience, each team, and each project add up to something invaluable. This cumulative knowledge will continue to play a vital role, no matter where we go next in our careers. To all my connections – let’s keep sharing, learning, and growing together! I would love to hear about your experiences with great teams and what you've learned along the way. 😊 #TeamWork #Collaboration #ContinuousLearning #GrowthMindset #LearningJourney #WorkCulture #KnowledgeSharing
