Dr. Michael Cardona of San Marcos CISD joined us last week on More Than A Test and gave insights on building a resilient and innovative board of teachers. After COVID, Dr. Cardona saw the critical need for strong leadership, leading to a partnership with the Holzworth Center’s leadership pipeline program. This initiative, termed the "leadership combine," put future leaders through practical scenarios to sharpen their skills and received invaluable feedback. Strategic partnerships with Texas State University are key. Teachers are supported in earning master's degrees and certifications, with initiatives like tuition reimbursement helping retain valuable staff. This approach has significantly reduced teacher attrition and stabilized the district. Tune in to hear more on how Dr. Cardona is reshaping education. #InnovativeLearning #PublicEducation #CommunityPartnerships #Leadership #StudentSuccess #TeacherDevelopment

Are School Principals CEOs of Education? One of the most significant insights from my EdD thesis research was this - principals in independent schools in Australia are, without a doubt, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs). Having observed this firsthand throughout my career, I can confidently say this perspective is not only accurate but vital to understanding the evolving role of school leaders. The four case-study principals involved in my research unanimously shared this view, underscoring the immense responsibility and strategic oversight required in these roles. This insight reshapes how we think about school leadership—not just as educators, but as visionaries steering complex organisations. I’d love to hear your thoughts: How do you see the role of a principal evolving in today’s educational landscape? What parallels do you see between school leadership and corporate leadership? Let’s start the conversation! #ceo #principal

Exceptional leadership I believe can make a difference to pupil outcomes; with the right strategy and emotional leadership, it can inspire our next generation. I found it interesting that UNESCO are looking to survey across the world to see global variations on education leadership. I look forward to seeing their results and what can our education system take from this. #leadership #education #educationalleadership #unesco #pupils https://lnkd.in/encQdBVw.

I know so many executives in the K-12 education industry. It surprises me how they bounce from one organization to another in less than 2-3 years. No one is at fault here, but it's just a sad and unfortunate state we are in as educational organizations. There needs to be some level of stability and commitment at the senior leadership level to run good schools. Just a thought. What do you think? #educationalleadership #education
