BIGGBY COFFEE’s Post

BIGGBY COFFEE reposted this

Let's face it... Not all coffee is “good” coffee. In fact, most of it isn’t any good at all. Like so many commodities throughout history, coffee is often sourced unethically from underprivileged parts of the world. The coffee industry knows this. Many coffee drinkers don’t. We’re on a mission to change that. We work with responsible, sustainable, small-farm producers. Helping them improve their policies and practices. Paying them fair prices. For their labor and the fruits of it. Making their Farm Direct coffee available at scale. And sharing their stories with the world. When it comes to taking care of people and fighting exploitation throughout the supply chain, our Farm Direct Coffee isn’t just good coffee... It’s a good start https://lnkd.in/e_SNzhE

Great work and mission! Coffee farmers need more initiatives like this. We would love to collaborate if you are open to expanding it to Kenya and other East African coffee-producing origins.

Very good example for big rosteries and coffee shop chains. Scale is important to make bigger impact in producers families. Mexico is a good source to explore not only Direct Coffee but also sustainable logistics, or at least lower emissions and ecological footprint. Fairtrade and Organic certification was a good intention but not enough. It is time for new models of associative economics and social relationships…
