I haven’t had a vacation in almost 4 years now. My last vacation was 2 weeks driving in Norway. Since then, I haven’t passed over a week without working. Even last Christmas, I spent working. During these nearly 4 years, I can count the times hardly with my 2 hands when I spent the entire weekend free. I also haven’t partied a single time in 2 years now. And especially since I’ve lived in South America, my usual morning for over a year has been waking up at 5 am to work. This way, I’ve been able to serve my clients during their normal working hours. I don’t feel pride in what I do, nor do I feel pity. Do I feel miserable sometimes? Yes. Do I feel like I’m totally out of balance? Yes. Do I regularly feel like I’ve lost a good chunk of my life? Yes. But I understand why I do this. And I also understand why most will never get what I do. When you do what everyone else does, you get what everyone else gets. When you exert the average amount of effort, you produce an average amount of results. We all want the hack, but in reality, there is no hack. We go to seminars, webinars, read books, check videos, looking for that easy route. The easy route is an illusion, a mirage. The only way is through. Quality just requires a shit ton of raw output, and most won’t accept that. And that’s fine, each to their own. So I keep grinding, day after day. And recently, I’ve realized. It’s impossible for me to fail. Why? Because there is no way anyone can fail when they put every inch of their energy every day into something. I may fall, I may stumble. I may even lose most of what I have. But the victory is inevitable. I know it in my heart. Bright as the day. And you don’t need to understand it. Because I only need myself to understand it.

🎉✨ Back in the Office and Bursting with Motivation! ✨🎉 After three weeks of blissful holiday escapades, I'm back at my desk and feeling more energized and motivated than ever before! 💼💪 There's something truly magical about taking some time away to recharge, reconnect with loved ones, and explore new horizons. But now, as I settle back into the rhythm of office life, I'm ready to hit the ground running and tackle whatever challenges come my way. One of the most refreshing aspects of returning to the office after a break is the renewed sense of perspective it brings. Stepping away from the daily grind allowed me to gain clarity on my goals, both personal and professional. I've had the chance to reflect on my accomplishments, reassess my priorities, and envision exciting new possibilities for the future. But perhaps the most significant source of motivation stems from the vibrant energy of my colleagues. There's an unmistakable buzz in the air as we reconnect and share stories of our holiday adventures. It's invigorating to be surrounded by a team of passionate individuals who are eager to collaborate, innovate, and strive for excellence. Of course, returning to work after a break isn't without its challenges. There's always a bit of catching up to do, emails to sift through, and projects to reacquaint myself with. My Monday morning commute looks like taking a walk on the beach to pick up my favorite cup of coffee. I work remotely and I live on an island (rough life, I know). But I can still find myself wholly dreading the start of a work week. I can still find myself in an existential spiral (also known as the Sunday scaries) on the eve before plugging back in. I can still find myself basking in the perceived scarcity of time, space, resources, obligations, etc. But it's kicking off my week off with something that I genuinely enjoy, that gives me something to look forward to. And looking forward to something, then allowing myself to be fully present to that thing (my Monday morning beach coffee commute), breathes inspiration into my life again, It breathes inspiration into my work again. Sometimes, I don't think we give ourselves enough time and space in-between the obligatory parts of life, to actually enjoy living. To feel fulfilled and inspired and joyful. We don't work to pay bills and tend to obligations until we die. We work to live. If you are not feeling the way you desire to feel on a regular basis (to include waking up feeling inspired and refreshed and excited for the start of your work week), you are the only one that can change that. Your life is happening right now -- not tomorrow or when you retire. But today. While you are logging in, doing whatever it is that you do, you are living. This is it. The quality of your existence is dictated by you and you alone. So what will it take for you to enjoy waking up on a Monday, or any day, for that matter? #personaldevelopment #integrity #accountability #mondayinspo #beachwalks

First day of vacation: attending a couple of meetings (super important), ensuring no emails are unread, and following up on some urgent (in my opinion) tasks that need to be finalised while I’m gone. Second day of vacation: waking up with the joy, “Oh, I don’t need to work today!” ending up reading all the Slack, making sure no critical emails need my attention. The third day of vacation: just one work-related call, a couple of emails and a genius idea: “If I spend just one hour working every day - I won’t have any stress catching up with work after my vacation!” This is wild, I know. But that’s who I am. Shall I embrace it, or shall I start my mornings with G&T and force myself to get out of this entrepreneurial FOMO?

When people ask me what I do for "fun," my typical response is boating on a body of water, spending time with friends, lifting weights, drinking wine, and working. Yes, I said work. I seriously love to work and always have. Every one of my former employers over the past 20 years, despite being a salaried employee, has told me to "go home" at least ten times. I love to work—it's the feeling of success, accomplishment, progress, and freedom. I work best in environments that are not your typical office vibes. I need background noise, positive energy, and peace. When those three magically coincide, watch out... I've got something cooking. Why has "working" acquired a negative connotation in our culture? Why do we have to love something else? Perhaps this is why I have become an entrepreneur. The only people who seem to question why I am working at 10 pm with my laptop open on a Friday night are the guys at the other end of the bar who don’t have anything better to do. Do I have fun? Absolutely! I despise that we have somehow ingrained into our culture a 9-5 workweek and anything outside of that is "wrong" or "too much." And yes, of course, let’s not forget the "4-Hour Workweek." Someday I’ll get there. Until then, it’s a lot of super hard work that I love. So for the next guy at the bar, try, "Wow, I love that you are so committed you are working at 10 pm on a Friday night. You must own a company. I don’t want to disrupt you, but if you get to a stopping point, I’d love to learn more." There is rest, and there is work, but there is no such thing as overnight success. To all the hustlers, I see you.

I had one of the most productive days I've had since quitting my full-time job and launching my business. Part of it is that I have a lot to do now that I'm working with multiple clients (yeah!), so I can't putter away the day like I have been*. But perhaps the bigger part is that I used several techniques that always work for me to stay focused when I need to get a lot done. ✅ Took a moment to be grateful for the beautiful space I designed in my home office ✅ Planned out what major tasks needed to get done today and saved space on my calendar to get the less important things done tomorrow, essentially removing them from my mental to-do list completely ✅ Took a short break outside this morning after finishing up my morning start-up and before diving into a mentally challenging task ✅ Actually paused in the middle of the day to make lunch and provide transition time between two very different types of work ✅ Enjoyed a late-afternoon espresso shot to mark another transition between different types of work ✅ Put on this "Deep Work + Beats" playlist when I started hitting a wall and knew I needed to just get through another hour of work: https://lnkd.in/gwujXZWM That's my recipe for a great work day but I'd love to hear yours. Anything special you do to stay focused (especially when working at home) when you need to have an extra-productive day? *Not that puttering the day away has been bad. It's exactly what I needed over the last few months to recharge and regroup. But it feels good to be stretched a little outside my comfort zone again!

How do you reset at work after a break or quieter summer period? #HolidayMode #LinkedInNewsEurope Resetting at work after a break or a quieter summer period is essential, especially in industries like intermodal logistics development, where staying updated is crucial. I find that even though I try to keep up with current affairs during vacation, getting back into full work mode requires a deliberate approach. First, I start with a recap session: reviewing recent developments, catching up on emails, and scanning the latest industry trends. This helps me assess what's changed during my break and identify any key shifts in the market. Then, I prioritize tasks, focusing on high-impact activities that can drive immediate results. Reconnecting with colleagues is also a priority. Engaging in brief catch-ups helps rebuild momentum and aligns everyone on upcoming objectives. I also revisit my long-term goals, adjusting them based on any new insights or changes I picked up during my downtime. Finally, I ease back into my routine by maintaining a structured yet flexible approach, allowing room to adapt as new challenges or opportunities arise. This combination of recalibration and forward planning ensures I’m back at peak performance quickly, ready to contribute effectively in the dynamic world of logistics development.

Imagine the following: When you are back from vacation Hey Team, Guess Who's Back from Mountain Bliss? That’s right—it’s me, the happy camper returning from paradise! Back in Action "It was great to get away, but I'm genuinely excited to be back"—words you probably didn’t expect to hear, right? Well, as much as I enjoyed the break, the allure of office banter, endless coffee, and all of you finally won me over. What I’m Excited About: Seeing Your Lovely Faces "I’ve missed our casual catch-ups and the fun we have around the office. There’s a certain charm to it that’s hard to beat!" Catching Up on the Gossip—uh, I Mean, Updates I’m dying to know: what went down while I was away? What wins did you celebrate? What new things did you learn?Spill all the beans! Getting the Lowdown What happened while I was gasping for breadth at 12,000 ft altitude ? I don’t want to be the one nodding in meetings, pretending I know what’s going on. Fill me in on anything I need to know! Let’s Make It Happen Let’s carve out some time to chat—feel free to throw a dart at my calendar. I’d love to reconnect with those of you who carried the load while I was living the beach bum life. Pro Tip: "If you're not thrilled to reengage after a break, it might be time to consider a new job—or at least plan a more exciting vacation!" Final Note Here’s to diving back in with renewed energy and (hopefully) a post-vacation glow! Let’s make the next few weeks less about grinding and more about grooving! #leadership #vacation #worklifebalance

3moYou are right. It is quite easy to get caught up in work. Unless we are intentional about life, there's no anchor and we just drift mindlessly.
