Blodomloppet: Running for Life and Wellbeing! We are incredibly proud of our colleagues who participated in this year's "Blodomloppet" in Gothenburg, Sweden, on June 10. This exercise event, which gathered thousands of participants, saw representation from our colleagues across Sweden, Finland, and continental Europe. This demonstrates our strong community and our commitment to making a difference together, regardless of geographical boundaries - "The BIM Way of Working." Participating in Blodomloppet was not only an opportunity to promote health and well-being but also a chance to contribute to an important cause. Through our participation, we support blood donation, a life-saving effort that touches many people's lives every day. At BIM Kemi, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of well-being and community spirit. We encourage our employees to engage in activities that enhance their health and contribute to society. Events like Blodomloppet are perfect examples of how we can achieve this together. We look forward to continuing to participate in such initiatives and supporting important societal issues, both locally and internationally, while recharging our BIM Spirit batteries together. Together, let's continue to run for life and well-being! #bimkemi #EmployeeWellbeing #BIMSpirit #CorporateResponsibility #blodomloppet **About Blodomloppet: Over 30 Years in the Service of Blood Donation** Blodomloppet is an exercise race with over 100,000 participants, organized in 18 locations around Sweden. Whether walking, jogging, or running 5 or 10 kilometers with friends and workmates, the aim is to draw attention to the vital importance of blood donation and to promote a healthy lifestyle. Since the start in 1993, Blodomloppet has grown from two races with about a thousand participants to Sweden's largest recreational race with over 110,000 participants at its peak. The founders believed, “The future blood donors are among the exercisers. We will start a race and call it Blodomloppet.” In 2024, there will be at least 25 races in 24 cities.

This weekend, I will be participating in my 10th MS Canada MS Bike. I do this ride each and every year to fundraise and find a cure for my mom, who has lived with MS for over 20 years. If you can, you can donate here: https://lnkd.in/g8cADCJY MS is a disease where the immune system attacks the protective covering (myelin sheath) around nerve fibers in the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. This attack damages the myelin and sometimes the underlying nerve fibers, disrupting the communication between the brain and the rest of the body. This can lead to a wide range of symptoms including fatigue, vision problems, numbness or tingling, muscle weakness, and difficulties with coordination and balance. It has a much higher incidence rate in Canada and other northern countries, so Canadians are disproportionately impacted. Every year, I seem to reach someone who tells me a family member or friend has been diagnosed. This year seems even more pronounced, with at least half a dozen people telling me a family member or friend has been diagnosed. While we need to find a cure so people like my mom can get their lives back and not have to worry about balance issues, energy levels, or if their brain can tell their leg to lift, we have still seen so many advancements that really benefit those getting diagnosed today. When my mom was finally diagnosed, it was after YEARS of advocating for her health and telling doctors that something was wrong, but they just couldn't figure out what. Thanks to all the research since then, early detection has gotten much better which means people can get on treatment earlier and may never experience an MS attack again, or halt the progression of their symptoms. While we don't have that silver bullet to end MS just yet, the advancements that have occurred over the last 10 years of fundraising give me a ton of hope that it is coming. If you are able, please consider donating to my ride to end MS (or honestly, if you know someone else, their ride - we all have the same goal). Thanks to NRG Energy's generous matching program, I am only about $1,000 off of my goal once those matches are applied. I am thankful that NRG offers this match as it helps get more money into the hands of the brilliant researchers that will find a cure for MS. On top of that, they are a 20-year participant in the Texas MS150, which I have been lucky enough to take part in the past 2 years now and we have together fundraised over $2.3 million for MS research. Check out this amazing video from this year's ride where yours truly makes a few appearances. Luckily the videographers didn't capture TOO much of my suffering, or they at least left it on the editing room floor. https://lnkd.in/gK74i-Mn

It’s that time of year again… mini marathons, half marathons, charity runs and even the London Marathon. Whether you are partaking in a running event for fun or are a serious athlete looking to upscale your physical performance in organised marathons, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) could be just what you need. Studies have highlighted the positive effects that HBOT can have on healthy athletes at the top of their game including improving maximum oxygen consumption, overall power and anaerobic threshold. By way of muscle biopsy, it has also been proven that HBOT can bring about improvement in mitochondrial respiration, a set of reactions and processes that take place to convert energy stored in macronutrients to adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the source of energy used at cellular level. 4 weeks. A lot of happened in-between, a story of high raise, a hard fall (literally), step up again but never give up to chaise your dreams: . 11.08.24: Sovereign #victory of my first #UltraTrail (Allgäu Panorama Marathon) over 69.3k/3.100D+ in 07.25,16 hours. ➡️2nd fastest time ever on this course💪 ➡️5th "men" in the overall field of 200 participants. ➡️Gap to P2: 1 hour . Fine so far. However: I felt at k53. #Falls are part of the game. Not the first time, but this time I knew that something isn’t right as the body reacted immediately! I continued the race, cautiously, made it to the finish line and tried somehow to enjoy that incredible performance. . 16.08.24: Realizing finally the brutal reality whilst the #anaesthesia for my #surgery is kicking in. Right middle hand broken; fixed with 2 screws 🖐. . #Today: A bone needs at least 6 weeks to heal, but it is just a broken bone. There are much more worse things in life. Was I sad? Sad, that I couldn’t #defend my title at the Austria Triathlon in Podersdorf one week ago? No, because everything happens for a reason! . After realizing that my race plans are a little bit screwed up, I immediately looked #forward and #focused on the next big dream. There is no sense in moaning the past. It’s PAST. . Control the #controllables! Working hard on recovery with special nutrition by ultraSPORTS, #ultrasound for quicker bone healing and most important: #Sleep!

[#TeamSpotlight] 🏃 With wellness and health very much in mind due to our recent #EHSDay, today, we would like to share the next chapter of the SF Marathon journey with our life science team – setting goals and preparation. In running and life science advancement, precision, endurance (longevity), and continuous improvement remain core principles to a successful outcome. Just as our marathon runner is carefully designing a customized training plan to safely reach the finish line, the life science industry depends on custom-designed solutions such as our #Omniseal polymer seals to protect and support patient care. Every mile counts in a #marathon, and every component matters in #lifescience. From surgical tools to diagnostic equipment, the right mindset and solution can ensure that your path is reliable and smooth. Continue to follow our journey as we share how marathon training and our business partnerships are positively linked. A great starting point can be found here. https://lnkd.in/gpPGg2T2 #SanFranciscoMarathon #HealthcareInnovation #SaintGobain #AimHigher
