At the tender age of 14, I landed my first job as a stocker at Winn Dixie. Each afternoon, after school, I would change gears from textbooks to tea bags, learning the rhythms of retail one shelf at a time. My job was simple but pivotal: ensure the shelves were meticulously organized and products aligned with military precision. Yet, no sooner had I lined up the cans and boxes than shoppers would disrupt the order, reaching for what they needed or wanted. Initially, seeing my efforts undone in real-time frustrated me. But this early job taught me invaluable lessons about life and work: 1. Impermanence is Inevitable: No matter how perfectly you arrange things, external factors will always introduce change. Embracing this reality teaches flexibility and resilience. 2. Service is at the Heart of All Work: The ultimate goal of my stocking wasn't just aesthetic. It was about making life easier and more convenient for those who entered the store. This early lesson in service-oriented work has stayed with me, reminding me that the true value of our work often lies in how it serves others. 3. Every Role Has Value: Every job adds value, no matter how small it seems. Keeping shelves stocked might have seemed mundane, but it was essential for the store's daily operations and customer satisfaction. These early experiences at Winn Dixie laid the foundation for my career. They taught me the importance of adaptability, service, and respect for all roles within a business. As I've progressed in my career, these lessons have only deepened in value, reminding me that every task, every role, and every person in an organization is a vital part of the whole. To anyone starting out or feeling like their contributions are not noticed: remember, the lessons you learn in these early roles are building blocks for your future. Keep stocking, keep learning, and keep growing.

I've been very fortunate……… Been on “Both Sides Of The Table” (BSOTT) Two carriers >>> UPS >>> CD&L (not today's CDL, but the CD&L that was bought by Velocity moons ago) Two start-ups as a shipper >>>> FreshDirect >>>> Boxed Three Fortune 50 to Fortune 250 shippers in uniquely different industries >>> Grainger - B2B Industrial Supplies >>> AmerisourceBergen – Wholesale Pharmaceuticals >>> ToysRUs – Toys!!!! Seen alot, done alot, but still learning every day….and the industry changes quickly! Experiences across multiple industries, in different environments is just so valuable… What are all the words above for? It’s so I can offer some advice to those that have only been in one industry so far in their career……and that is……….. Make a move !!!! Varied experiences allow you to provide input based on a well-rounded career……don’t just become a specialist in industrial supplies, or apparel, or vitamins……and spend some time NOT just in Supply Chain, but in Human Resources, in Industrial Engineering (aka Arts and Crafts), in Maintenance and Housekeeping………understand how departments need to collaborate… And if you are wondering, I'd still be doin' this if I wasn't doin' this (lyrics borrowed from Luke Combs)

🟩 In the fast paced world we live in, everyone is driven by the ever so passionate energy to get the job and only a minute few, understand that getting the job is a little fragment, completing the job and getting positive reviews from the customers is what really & truly matters. 🟥 Picture a scenario where you placed an order for a product(any nature or kind), and you get delayed by the logistics centre with no definite or valid reason, which increased the time for your package to arrive. You finally got your package, and on opening you realized it was what you ordered for, not the slightest. ⬛️ Instantly you're filled with pain, bitterness, anger, frustration and overly very annoyed with the logistics firm and the delivery agent. It gets so so painful, when you recheck the orders you placed and see that you didn't make any mistake or errors. ⬜️ What would you do in a situation like this? P.S - This is a series insight, stay tuned and stay glued. #happynewweek #professionalism #personaldevelopmemt

💎Closer to Customer: My First Time on the Shop Floor 💎 Last week, I had the privilege of stepping away from data engineering and joining my colleagues at Evesham Simply Food as part of Marks and Spencer's Closer to Customer initiative, spending two days working on the shop floor for the very first time. What a great experience! Here are my refelctions: 🗣️ Conversations with Colleagues and Customers: I got the chance to speak directly with both our team members and customers. Hearing their perspectives firsthand was invaluable and gave me a much deeper understanding of their daily experiences. 💡 Operational Insights: Working alongside colleagues, keeping the shelves full (and putting together my first Christmas display 💪) gave me fresh ideas on how we can continue improving and supporting our team more effectively. 🎉 Special Shoutout to Amanda, Mike, and the Team at Evesham Simply Food: You all made my time on the floor incredibly insightful and rewarding. Your dedication, teamwork, and expertise were inspiring, and I am grateful for the warm welcome! 🎄 Looking Forward to the Christmas Peak (yes really!): I am excited to be joining the team again during the Christmas peak, where I know their hard work will shine even brighter. Taking part in Closer to Customer has reminded me how important it is to stay connected to every part of the business. If you have not had the chance yet, wherever you work and whatever your role - I highly recommend stepping away from your day-job, it is an experience that will change your perspective. #CloserToCustomer #Leadership #CustomerExperience #Teamwork #EveshamSimplyFood

🌟 Grateful and Proud! 🌟 Over the past few months, I had the incredible opportunity to work with KIN Aesthetics on their warehouse optimization project. As my first consulting job, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience or a more collaborative team. We focused on implementing a new shipping and inventory management system, streamlining operations, and improving overall efficiency. It was amazing to see the transformation of their processes and to know that my efforts helped set them up for continued success during such an exciting period of growth. I’m beyond thankful for Sarah Kinsler-Holloway and Carrie Madison kind words and recommendation—it means the world to me as I begin my journey into consulting. The trust they placed in me to navigate their challenges, provide solutions, and implement changes is something I’ll always cherish. To anyone looking for help with warehouse optimization, inventory systems, or operational efficiency, I’d love to bring my experience to your team. Whether it’s your first step into streamlining processes or a larger-scale transformation, I’m here to help. A huge thank you to KIN Aesthetics for trusting me with this project. Here’s to more opportunities to help businesses achieve their operational goals! #WarehouseOptimization #InventoryManagement #OperationalExcellence #SupplyChainSolutions #ProcessImprovement #FulfillmentOptimization
Finishing out an amazing month which included hosting a workshop which was attended by estheticians all over the country, and introducing a brand new inventory system to our warehouse. We worked closely with a consultant, Jamison Malasko, who helped this transition run as smooth as possible. He went above and beyond + I absolutely recommend him for anyone seeking warehouse solutions pertaining to inventory and warehouse management. If he lived closer I'd absolutely try to get him on our team. I was blown away by his problem-solving skills, his calm in the chaos, and work ethic all around.
