TH2ICINO 2024 recap: as 2024 comes to an end, we’re proud to share the milestones achieved in our project! 🔧 Planning & Design of the Hydrogen Valley We completed regulatory studies, analyzed green energy costs, and modeled H2 production. We plan to install a 5MW electrolyzer capable of producing 76 kg of hydrogen per hour, and developed three scenarios blending photovoltaic and grid energy. 🛡️ Safety & Permits Our team initiated an integrated safety plan and the permits process for the Hydrogen Valley at Malpensa Airport, setting the stage for construction in the second half of 2025. 🏭 Manufacturing industry engagement We partnered with local stakeholders, particularly in hard-to-abate sectors, to build a strong foundation for hydrogen demand. 🚍 Vehicles retrofitting We analyzed airport buses and ground vehicles, identifying Ambulifts and Pushbacks as prime candidates for hydrogen retrofitting. 📈 Master Planning Tool We laid the groundwork for a decision-making tool to guide not just TH2ICINO but future Hydrogen Valleys in Italy and across Europe. 💪 A huge thank you! Mission Accomplished: Today, Koelnmesse started up Cologne's largest inner-city photovoltaic system! 🙌 With 4,800 modules, we will soon be saving 1,200 tonnes of CO2 per year. By the end of 2024, we will be installing over 20,000 m2 of solar panels on the roof. The area is the size of three football fields. This is a significant contribution to climate protection, and we are proud to be doing our part for a sustainable future. 🌱 And we are not done yet! In the past few weeks, another 2,000 solar panels were delivered and installed on the roof of our Hall 1. These will be added to Koelnmesse’s overall system this year allowing us to produce roughly 3 million kilowatt-hours of clean solar power per year! 🌞🔋 We are proud to lead by example and to set a clear course towards climate protection operations!
