United Petroleum Pty Ltd leases new headquarters at Brisbane Technology Park - JLL JLL agent Andrew Benson managed the lease of the new United Petroleum headquarters at Brisbane Technology Park on behalf of property owner Dexus. He said the leases were negotiated after Dexus invested in the fitout of speculative suites to showcase the property’s potential. “United Petroleum was looking for premises south of the river that were close to the M1 to ensure accessibility for its workforce,” Mr Benson said. “In Brisbane Technology Park, it secured a location that sits strategically at the junction of the Gateway, Logan and Pacific motorways, but also features ready access to significant public transport assets across bus and rail networks. “The attraction piece for staff was important for them, so the extensive parking options, onsite cafe, gym and childcare centre were all added benefits.” Ahead of United Petroleum, the building had already welcomed medical firm Arthrex in 2023, with JLL’s Connor O. brokering the lease of the 559sqm downstairs level. Around half of HMO (house in multiple occupation) landlords surveyed said that they use their property or portfolio as their sole source of income. Despite the challenges of managing HMOs, the survey revealed that nearly half of the properties were self-managed by landlords. The most common HMO portfolio size was the smallest, with 34% having between 4-10 properties. Despite proposed rental reforms and local authority licensing schemes, confidence in HMOs remains strong, with the housing shortage driving demand for well managed house shares. We're delighted to say we've been given funding to establish a brand new national centre for the retrofit of traditional buildings! Thanks to £1m awarded by UKRI Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) we're able to create a Retrofit lab to help develop ways to decarbonise the historic environment - because #HeritageMatters to #NetZero. The centre will put #HeritageScience at the heart of our approach to retrofit, expand our technical research capabilities, and deliver much needed training in the use of low-carbon retrofit materials. Director of Cultural Assets Dr David Mitchell said: “Retrofit of our traditional buildings can bring many wider benefits if done properly to protect the special character of these buildings that give local places their unique identities. There are also huge potential economic benefits and new employment opportunities to be realised through ensuring our existing building stock is in a good state of repair and that retrofit measures are technically sound and effective.
