Islamic principles emphasise economic justice and societal well-being, with Maqasid al-Shariah (objectives of Islamic law) prioritising the protection of human life, including safeguarding people from harmful economic practices. In Nigeria, inflation has led to a significant rise in food prices, placing a heavy burden on vulnerable communities. The Islamic Market in Iwo, Osuna State, established by Sheikh Daood Imran Molasan, Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta and the President of the Jamaat Taawunil Muslimeen, seeks to mitigate this by offering essential goods at fair prices. https://lnkd.in/ddEanJ5n

Holistic Approach to Ethics: The integration of spiritual beliefs with ethical behavior distinguishes Islamic civilization from others. The understanding that morality is divinely ordained fosters a deeper commitment to ethical conduct among Muslims. Historical Impact: Throughout history, Islamic civilization has made significant contributions to various fields such as science, philosophy, art, and governance—all grounded in its moral values system. Scholars like Al-Ghazali and Ibn Rushd explored ethics within an Islamic framework, influencing generations and promoting intellectual discourse.

In the highly unlikely event that there are any Americans out there that still haven't spoken out after a year of Israel's Genocide, I just wanted to make the following point... No one is judging you. We all need to come to terms with our own personal ethics. We all need to do what our conscience tells us to do. Of course, there is the small fact that our tax dollars are paying for this genocide, but if you are OK with that, then all is well. Ethics vary from person to person. But, know this: there is no moral crime worse than genocide. If you have done nothing and said nothing after sponsoring a genocide for 12 months, there exists nothing worse that will make you push back and question authority. If you're OK with the Gaza Genocide, then, clearly... - you would not have tried to save Anne Frank from the Holocaust - you would not have come to the aid of Rosa Parks on bus No.2857 - you would not have helped Emmet Till or Medgar Evers in their hour of need If you can sleep soundly at night while Israel uses your tax dollars to kill, maim and starve thousands of Palestinian children, then I'm really quite jealous. I genuinely wish I had your casual, comfy sense of indifference. From the comments, let me apologise for the last paragraph. Not everyone is indifferent. Many would like to speak out but don't for fear of repercussions. Do what you can. We're in this together. As someone who spent over 20 years working in service of vulnerable populations, with several of those years spent in the Middle East, I understand the complexities underlying the long-term conflict between Israel and Palestine. And as a humanitarian, I also understand suffering of innocent people and can’t understand the justification of targeting safe havens in the name of defense and security. There used to be a code —a set of rules and ethics in times of war - but as we’ve seen, not just in Palestine, but conflicts around the world, the rules and ethics of war no longer exist. “I first learned about the rules and ethics of war in college when I referenced the Bhagvad Gita in my senior thesis about the impact of the caste system on modern day politics and economics in India. Specifically, I looked at a discussion that takes place on the battlefield between the noble warrior Arjuna, and Lord Krishna, that highlights the importance of duty, righteousness, and the moral implications of war. When Arjuna expresses reticence about fighting against his family, Krishna explains that the fight isn’t born out of hatred or a desire for power, but from a moral duty to uphold dharma and to restore balance and justice. The underlying message is that war, though sometimes necessary, must be conducted with a sense of higher purpose and ethical restraint, focusing on minimizing suffering and protecting the innocent. It’s that last piece—focusing on minimizing suffering and protecting the innocent—a set of values that have guided me in my personal and professional pursuits for decades—that I’ve been stuck on for days.” Read the full essay at dear HUMANitarian on Substack using the link in the comments.

Stick to ethics in all aspects of life. Remember, wealth without ethics leads to poverty, science without ethics results in ignorance, friendship without ethics becomes betrayal, and work without ethics is corruption. #EthicsMatter #Integrity #Values #Professionalism

While there are significant differences between Islamic ethics and idealist thought, there are also areas where they overlap. Both traditions emphasize the importance of morality, justice, and human dignity. However, the ultimate foundations and sources of these values differ significantly between the two.To reconcile these differences, one might need to find ways to balance the emphasis on divine sovereignty and human submission in Islam with the idealist emphasis on human autonomy and equality. This could involve exploring the ways in which Islamic ethics can be applied in a way that respects human dignity and autonomy, while also acknowledging the ultimate sovereignty of God.
