Creating a successful remote team in architecture and interiors takes more than just hiring the right talent. Here’s how to make it work—and why it’s worth the effort. 👉 Fact check: According to a recent industry report, over 50% of AEC firms have integrated remote work. Flexibility isn’t a perk anymore; it’s a standard. 👉 Key to success: Clear communication and robust project management tools (hello, BIM) are absolute game-changers. Tools like Slack and Revit keep everyone on the same page, no matter where they are. 👉 Hire globally, think locally: A remote team allows you to bring in the best talent from anywhere in the world. Your project stays local, but your talent pool? Endless. 💡 Finally, my pro tip for CEOs: Invest in culture, even remotely. Regular virtual meetups and strong onboarding can help bridge the distance.

📚 Hiring Cheatsheet for remote and hybrid software companies. Here are some critical items for anyone looking to grow engineering teams: 1. Know Your Remoteness Rule: Understand if your company is 100% in-office, 50-50 remote, 80% remote, or fully remote. Surprisingly, many hire without knowing their own policy. 2. Prioritize Self-Initiative: During interviews, ensure candidates demonstrate self-initiative and independence. Unlike office environments, remote settings necessitate these traits. 3. Assess Remote Experience: Check candidates' previous remote work experience, their familiarity with tools, and how they handled challenges in a remote environment. It's easier to work with those accustomed to remote settings. 4. Structured Onboarding: Have a detailed, well-documented onboarding process. Without it, new hires might be left waiting for instructions, and managers could waste hours on proper onboarding. 5. Maintain Team Culture: Rapid growth can dilute your team’s culture and dynamics, impacting morale and productivity. Avoid diverging team cultures that become productivity bottlenecks. 6. Optimal Team Size: Ideal remote team sizes are between 5 and 9 members. Larger teams struggle with communication and personal connections. Each chapter of my book, "New Leadership - How to Lead Remote and AI Ready Teams," includes actionable cheatsheets like these. I'll be sharing more tips regularly. The book provides industry-specific examples highlighting the importance of these points and potential pitfalls. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dUnBP5M8 #Leadership #RemoteWork #HybridTeams #AI #Engineering #TeamManagement #Hiring #Recruiting
