On Wednesday I asked what’s holding you back THE MOST in your cybersecurity career. 77 of you (so far!) have said access to opportunity. Now I want to know what opportunities you are referring to. But more specifically, I want to know what you think is contributing to the limitation of that access? Is it poor people management? Is it low budgets? Is it bias? Is it your own ability to seek and find? Is it how you interview? Is it because you don’t have a specific cert? Only when we identify what’s standing in the way of our access to opportunities will we be able to start clearing the roadblocks. So what’s the opportunity you’re seeking, and what’s standing in your way? #cybersecurity #womenincybersecurity

I know I shouldn't be doing this since I don't have a ton of bandwidth, but given that it is Cybersecurity Awareness Month (fitting since most cybersecurity companies sell fear), I figured I'd use my remaining free time this month to help those of you in this field or breaking into this field by doing free resume reviews. Whether you are a current or future digital desperado or a Firewall Lineman, I will help provide guidance on your resume. I will be giving priority to those of you breaking into the field first as there are unique ways to frame your experience and translate it, but it doesn't mean I'll ignore those of you who are already in the industry. Reach out in the comments or send me a message, and we can discuss more. Please include which type of role you are looking to achieve as well so I can help frame my feedback towards that role. I normally only do this for those I mentor, but I have to make some exceptions from time to time so that the knowledge is shared. Additionally, If you are a fellow leader and hiring manager and want to help me in this quest to help our fellow colleagues reach out in the comments and I'll include you in the overflow (if it exists) Let's pass on the torch that was offered to us and share some good knowledge this month. Happy Hacking #cybersecurity #resumereview #cyber

So the question is "If i wanted to break into #cybersecurity today, with what I know now, where would I start?" Here are 3 things I would do. 1. Watch #cyber training videos on #Youtube - Free Education. Follow people like 👉🏼 Gerald Auger, Ph.D. master of #simplycybercommunitychallenge. 2. Take the Google Cybersecurity Certificate - an amazing course by #google that teaches you everything you need to know about the industry, gets you interview-ready, and helps prepare your resume. 3. Network with people online, find people in the industry you can talk to who can share information and links to resources and opportunities. Find recruiters on LinkedIn and Dice and apply for roles. #simplycybercommunitychallenge

“The CEO of Hacker in Heels asked: 'If I had ____, I could ____ with my cybersecurity career?' My answer: "If I had more direct access to decision-makers in healthcare IT, I could showcase my unique blend of technical skills and domain expertise to break through the barriers and land the cybersecurity role I deserve." The biggest roadblock is often getting in front of the right people. They need to see beyond certifications and résumés to understand the value of my niche experience. What would help me break through: Targeted networking platforms that connect me directly with hiring managers in healthcare IT. Hands-on workshops to bridge the gap between technical skills and leadership roles. After conferences, I often long for: Personalized career development sessions tailored to my unique path in cybersecurity. Do you agree? What are your thoughts on breaking through in cybersecurity?" #HackerInHeels #WiCyS #Cybersecurity #HealthcareIT #SportsTech #WomeninCyber

I have a question for women in cybersecurity who know they’re meant for more: What’s stopping you? What do you need to break through to that next level? What can I offer to help you get there? I’m not looking for generic answers like “mentoring!” or “certifications” Tell me specifically: “If I had ____ I could ____ with my cybersecurity career” I’m working with a powerhouse organization to level-up the resources being offered to women in cybersecurity. We want to design a 1-day experience that gives you EXACTLY what you’ve been looking for. - To help you get paid your worth. - To help you get promoted to the level you deserve. - To help you get recognized for the talented cybersecurity practitioner you are. Specifically I’d LOVE to hear from women with 5+ years of experience. Think back to the last conference you attended—what worked well, and what left you longing? What’s the missing piece of information we might be able to provide? Or skill we could teach? Or resource we could connect you to? PLEASE share this with your networks. Help us collect this feedback that will form the foundation of this exciting opportunity coming this fall. 🙏🏻 #womenincybersecurity #cybersecurity #infosec
