AI to cure cancer? Not as crazy as it sounds - and could justify eye-watering valuations. Already AI has proven more adept than humans at identifying cancers. The next significant evolution will be AI-driven smart chemo. The triangulation of technology, biology and chemistry in the form of Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) medicines is going to revolutionise the treatment of cancer. Smart chemo can be used earlier in treatment plans, is more targeted and therefore less harmful to non-target cells. It can also be used in combination with other therapeutic approaches. As the chart below shows, ADC trials have rocketed in recent years and a recent report by Morgan Stanley suggested that smart chemo will drive revenues of more than $140bn by the end of the decade and - more importantly - a dramatic step-down in cancer mortality. As the only non-doctor in my family, I'm particularly fascinated by this latest evidence of how AI will change our world.
