Ever wonder how big brands maintain their brand awareness? 👀🐂 Let's take a look at Red Bull and how they operate as a very established brand. Since they're globally recognized, they have an advantage in how they're able to show off their products. In the video attached, Dawid Godziek does an X-Games style bike course on top of a moving train. At the very beginning of the video, you can see him actually taking a sip of a Red Bull before he starts the course. Even the title of the video "World First! Bike Flip on a Moving Train" has zero overt messaging about their product. This hook as well as the video itself doesn't need to showcase their product, it instead passively builds into the subconscious of whoever is viewing that Red Bull is able to help people achieve incredible feats. This type of marketing very much resonates with Gen Z as we're sold on vibes, not necessarily product features. Are there any current brands you think should be more brave in this regard? 📢 10 Million Views - ahead of schedule ! 🎉 ✨ (And we now have more channel subscribers than there are residents in Kendal) We started making YouTube videos during lock-down. Then it was really something to do to keep the business ticking over, maintain our connection with customers and find a way to keep chatting bikes. But as our confidence and skills as media creators have developed our audience has grown and so has our commitment to the channel. We are currently on a 500% growth rate with over 800,000 views this month and 6.8k new subscribers. 🚲 💪 📹 Why being a bike shop makes us the most reliable cycling media channel What makes Mapdec different? For a start we are a genuine bricks and mortar bike shop. A lot of our content is based on the questions, products and experiences of our customers who walk through our door on a daily basis. We have no sponsors, no paid advertisers and belong to no affiliate marketing programs. Our YouTube channel isn’t about revenue, it’s about extending our Mapdec values to a wider audience. As bike riders, mechanics, bike fitters and coaches we want to offer honest, genuine and above all helpful advice to everyone we meet in person and our YouTube channel serves the same purpose. Right now we are growing our team, in addition to more mechanics and sales staff we have recruited videographers, editors and presenters. Our goal is to grow our shop team synergistically with the YouTube channel. The more custom bikes we build and workshop problems we solve the more useful content we can create. When Paul first picked up a camera and created the Mapdec YouTube channel the idea of having a full-time video editor and videographer as Mapdec team members wasn’t even in the plan – but here we are! We are excited to see where we can get to in the next year.
