Social work is all about helping people, but 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩 goes beyond just individual needs. We all know race, gender, and socioeconomic status dramatically impact a person's life. The question is: How can we, as future social workers, address these intersectional factors that contribute to marginalization? Here are some key things to consider: 1️⃣ Unpack Your Biases: We all have them. Take unconscious bias trainings and actively challenge your own assumptions about race, gender, and class. 2️⃣ Empowerment Through Advocacy: Don't just treat symptoms, advocate for policy changes that address systemic inequities. 3️⃣ Community Collaboration: Partner with marginalized communities to understand their needs and co-create solutions. Social work is a powerful tool for positive change. By recognizing the complex web of factors that contribute to marginalization, we can become agents of social justice. When setting up a social enterprise to employ people with disability, the first big challenge is finding a business to be in; more significant still, is getting that business up and running, as 8 out of 10 new businesses fail within their first 18 months. It is another level to find a business that will offer valued opportunities for a group of people, let alone just one individual. It’s another dimension to do all those things while providing support, training, workplace modification and work practice modifications for people with disability to participate meaningfully in that business.

Why I Do What I Love, and What Makes Us Different From the Rest! First of all, when you buy a service from us, be it training, consultation, workshops, etc., you're not just paying the company X amount. You're doing so much more... 1. You're helping a wonderful girl, aka my daughter, with the support she needs—therapy, a wheelchair, education, etc. Being special needs, she requires this support. I also need to prepare a trust to support her when I'm no longer here. 2. You're creating jobs for people who are less likely to find work, like people like myself who are neurodivergent or have a disability. We try to hire people with lived experience. 3. You're contributing to a better local economy, as we strive to work locally with local people. 4. You're becoming part of the change, as we genuinely want to make an impact that helps everyone. 5. Our services make a difference and help, and they're informative and more. 6. You're supporting community impact. We use the money to support local events, groups, etc. - and also help them to become more inclusive. And much more...
