Dissertation: A model for data-driven decision-making developed to enhance the collaboration between humans and AI Professor Tero Päivärinta from the University of Oulu and researcher Nada Sanad were interested in Antell's way of combining the use of our AI application ATSO with human decision-making in menu planning. Nada's doctoral thesis resulted in an internationally pioneering human-AI collaboration decision-making model. At Antell, our development managers Karoliina Hannula and Kaisa Puolitaival co-authored two articles. We are proud to have been involved in the research. We believe it is practical AI applications like ATSO that will bring that big change to organisations. On top of that, this scientific research helped us to improve our own menu process in a very concrete way! #antell #AI #dissertation Read more: https://lnkd.in/dNU-_nNP

Many refer to artificial intelligence as supportive intelligence. Antell's ATSO demonstrates that artificial intelligence is rather, and more so, synergistic intelligence than supportive intelligence. In synergistic intelligence, artificial intelligence adds to human intelligence, making 1+1>2, rather than just supporting decision-making.

Our latest article that delves into the critical need for high-quality human-AI interaction (HAII) in safety-critical industries is recently published. We uncover major gaps in current research and offer actionable recommendations to enhance HAII. Our study covers essential aspects like terminology, factors influencing interaction, and measurement techniques. This comprehensive survey is a call to action for researchers and developers to unify HAII terminology, involve users throughout the AI lifecycle, and tailor systems to specific environments. Dive into the findings and join the conversation on advancing safety in AI-driven fields. 🛠️🔍 Aleksandar Babic Alon Jacovi Jenny Kristiansen 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dtRrgu4q #AI #HumanAIInteraction #Safety #Research #Innovation

#2 Paper of the Day - Unraveling the Complexity of Memory in RL Agents! 🧠 In their latest paper, "Unraveling the Complexity of Memory in RL Agents: An Approach for Classification and Evaluation," researchers propose a structured way to classify and evaluate memory in Reinforcement Learning agents. 🔹 The Problem: How can we consistently define and assess different types of memory in RL agents? 🔹 The Solution: Inspired by cognitive science, the authors introduce clear definitions of memory types and a robust experimental framework for evaluating RL agents' memory capabilities. 🔹 The Result: A systematic approach to accurately assess and compare memory-enhanced RL agents, driving progress in agent design and efficiency. Fantastic to see the AI Assessment Scale mentioned in this report by TEQSA, written by Jason M. Lodge as one of three frameworks suggested as a way for students to be transparent about their AI use! Supporting institutions to address the risks to academic integrity was one of the key goals behind the development of the #AIAS, so it's really pleasing to see this framework being highlighted as a potential way forward. #AIAS, #AcademicIntegrity Leon Furze, Dr. Jason MacVaugh, Jasper Roe
We’ve published a new resource, to support institutions in addressing the risk posed by #GenAI. 'The evolving risk to academic integrity posed by generative artificial intelligence: Options for immediate action', authored by Jason M. Lodge (Uni Qld), offers ideas which can be implemented in the short-term, while longer-term planning is undertaken. This new resource is provided to support institutions while they work towards long-term solutions, and complements our existing resource, 'Assessment Reform for the Age of Artificial Intelligence'. https://lnkd.in/gvRVEwKw #AI #highered #assessment

Having spent the last few months going through #AcademicIntegrity meetings and seeing how students have tried to implement #GenerativeAI to varying levels of success, I found the recommendations laid out here by TEQSA enlightening. There is certainly no quick fix to address the use of AI in assessment but the more we understand it, the better our relationship with it will be 😊 A must read for all involved in #HigherEducation

Some great principles to guide immediate action in this new TEQSA Resource. The ongoing work at the University of Newcastle, developing and refining AI and Academic Integrity resources and guidance for course coordinators, aligns well with these principles. https://lnkd.in/gmnkr9Q3

🧠Trilateral AI Conference 2024 Session Introduction: 🔴 Keynotes: “Transparency of GenAI”(November 12, 13:00-14:30 JST / 05:00-06:30 CET) ✏️ Abstract: Transparency – or rather, the lack thereof – is a key issue which Generative AI is faces today. To date, the reasons why an AI generates a specific output are still perceived as opaque. Despite this well-known phenomenon, there is a tendency towards overreliance on the accuracy of AI. The panelists will provide insights into their research with which they intend to shed light on the decision-making process of AI. Their keynotes will cover various areas: They will present concepts which serve to enhance interpretability and call attention to the need to distinguish different AI architectures. The keynotes will also touch upon new developments in the field of neuro-symbolic approaches that will enable new types of dialogue between humans and knowledge graphs. To illustrate the practical application and importance of transparency, one of the panels key areas will be the use of AI in modern medicine. 🗣️ Speakers: Dr. Anton Zimmermann (Chair) / Prof. Dr. Andreas Dengel / Prof. Florence d'Alche-Buc / Dr. Yasuhiro Katagiri ✅ Click here for speaker information: https://lnkd.in/e9ShkzR8 #TrilateralAI2024 #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #GenerativeAI Ambassade de France au Japon / Office for Science and Technology - Embassy of France to Japan
