Packet Transfer: Data or assets are encapsulated into packets and transmitted over the established channels, containing the necessary information for processing by the receiving chain. 4. Proofs and Verification: Cryptographic proofs of transactions are sent along with packets, allowing the receiving chain to verify the authenticity and integrity of the transferred data or assets against its ledger. Was great to be a part of the panel on "Identity Wallets and Qualified Trust Service Providers" for INATBA - International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications's Joining Forces for Blockchain Standardisation with Markus Sabadello, Steffen Schwalm, Priya Guliani, Nacho Alamillo Domingo, Antonio Leal Batista. A true international panel in terms of experiences! Some of the topics discussed... - Why so much focus on standardisation, when permissionless systems like Bitcoin and Ethereum don't have it? Great response from Nacho here that even though they are not formally standardised via the traditional standards bodies, practically such open source projects *do* have *specifications* which are discussed, e.g., Bitcoin/Ethereum Improvement Proposals. - I truly believe there needs to be choice available: permissionless blockchains, permissioned blockchains, and also no blockchain/ledgers only or even non-ledger systems. It's the job of *software* to convert between major/popular formats. - Lots of discussion on how encapsulating the trust frameworks for how things cross ecosystems is a bigger challenge than technical interoperability, in some senses. IMO this is key to solve the cold-start problem.

I'm excited to share that today, at Taipei Blockchain Week, I delivered a speech titled "Taiwan Regulatory Framework for VASPs." I aimed to shed light on Taiwan's regulatory framework for Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs). I believe it is vital to establish clear guidelines, and I'm also pleased to announce the new registration regulations that will take effect on November 30, 2024. This initiative aims to create a structured environment in which VASPs can thrive while ensuring compliance. I also discussed the four-stage regulatory process established by the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), as I believe it represents a balanced approach to regulation that can adapt to the evolving landscape of blockchain technology. Furthermore, I emphasized the importance of self-regulatory codes and a differentiated management strategy for various types of VASPs. My goal is to foster a secure and accountable ecosystem in Taiwan's blockchain sector, where innovation can thrive alongside strong protections for consumers and the financial system.
