The complex reality of algae: while these vibrant blooms can be visually stunning, they also tell a cautionary tale. Algae are essential to our planet. They: 🌎 Act as a carbon sink, absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere. 🐟 Form the base of the aquatic food web, providing sustenance for countless creatures. 💨 Produce oxygen, vital for life on Earth. But when algae grows out of control, it can disrupt ecosystems, deplete oxygen levels, and even release harmful toxins. In fact, excessive algae growth can actually release the carbon it once captured, contributing to climate change. ⚠️ In addition to that, when the algae dies, it releases methane - a greenhouse gas that's 28-34x more potent than CO2! 🤯 At BLOOM, we're working to strike a balance. We harvest excess algae, transforming it into sustainable materials and restoring the health of our waterways. 🌱♻️ It's a reminder that nature's beauty and power must be respected and managed responsibly. Have you ever witnessed an algae bloom like this one? Tell us about it below! #MadeWithBLOOM #algae #cleanwater #cleanair #oceancleanup

Seaweed: A Natural Ally in Combating Carbon Emissions and Ocean Acidification As climate change accelerates, our oceans face the dual threat of increased carbon dioxide levels and resulting acidification. However, nature provides us with a powerful tool to address these challenges: Seaweed. Seaweed and Carbon Sequestration: Seaweed, particularly macroalgae like kelp, plays a critical role in sequestering carbon. Through photosynthesis, seaweed absorbs CO2 from the water, converting it into oxygen and biomass. This process not only reduces CO2 levels in the ocean but also helps in mitigating global climate change by capturing carbon that would otherwise contribute to atmospheric greenhouse gases. Combating Ocean Acidification: Ocean acidification, caused by increased CO2 absorption, poses a significant threat to marine life, especially organisms that rely on calcium carbonate for their shells and skeletons. By absorbing CO2, seaweed helps lower the acidity of the surrounding water, creating a more hospitable environment for marine species. Let's embrace the power of seaweed to tackle carbon emissions and ocean acidification, ensuring a sustainable future for our planet! #oceanacidification #agriculture #seaweed #sustainability #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #carbonemissions Seth, Abhiram Tanmaye Seth Amit Nowlakha Manishi Saxena

Microalgae will become the true harness of carbon sequestration for sustainable future. #ClimateAction #RenewableEnergy #NatureBasedSolutions #AirPollution #CleanAir #ClimateCrisis #ENeufBreath #ENeufOxyCity #ENeufGreenSolutions
Advantages of microalgae over trees: Microalgae absorb CO2 quicker than trees, providing rapid carbon sequestration for mitigating climate change. Microalgae can be grown in a variety of conditions, including urban and industrial environments, offering adaptable solutions. Microalgae generate more biomass per acre than trees, increasing carbon sequestration potential. Microalgae cultivation takes up less ground than tree planting, making it excellent for urban areas and land-constrained locations. Harnessing the power of microalgae with trees can help us achieve a more sustainable and resilient planet! #ClimateAction #RenewableEnergy #NatureBasedSolutions #AirPollution #CleanAir #ClimateCrisis #ENeufBreath #ENeufOxyCity #ENeufGreenSolutions

Despite decades of effort, the shift away from reliance on fossil fuels is incredibly slow. Renewables is now mostly cheaper than hydrocarbons in many places. Isn't it time to focus on where climate finance can have the biggest impact? We need more than technical solutions that address carbon sequestration, food insecurity, nature and biodiversity and more. What if, as Sadhguru JV suggests, we focused on soil rather than oil? Farmland could provide nearly 30% of the carbon sequestration need to hit 2C, and getting organic matter in soil to 3-6% could fundamentally transform the underpinning of nature and biodiversity regeneration, towards climate resilience, food security, and planetary regeneration. #climatechange #petrostates #savesoil #carboncapture https://lnkd.in/eHwXxGvT

Hint: When the waves are green (like, REALLY green), there could be an issue 😅 😬 Algae is essential to a healthy aquatic ecosystem. However, when pollution levels rise, it can grow out of control, creating harmful algae blooms that suffocate marine life and disrupt entire ecosystems. What if we told you there's a way to turn this problem into a solution? 🤔 BLOOM helps harvest this excess algae and transforms it into sustainable materials that help clean our waterways and replace fossil fuels. 🙌 🌍 Have you seen the effects of an algae bloom firsthand? Today is World Ozone Day 🌎 a day that is celebrated worldwide to raise awareness and teach us how we can all contribute to preserving our planet. One way we contribute to a healthier planet is through regenerative farming practices that help farmers improve water retention, maintain crop yields, increase farm productivity, enhance climate resilience, and heal the ozone layer. Agro-food forests act as carbon sinks, absorbing carbon dioxide from the air and storing it in their biomass and soils. This reduces the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which in turn helps to safeguard the ozone layer. This approach contributes to a healthier planet and a more secure ozone layer for generations to come. #WorldOzoneDay #solorganica #organicfruit #regenerativeorganic #regenerativeorganiccertified #regenerativeagriculture #sustainableagriculture #bcorp #bcorporation #fairtrade #nongmo #regenerative #soilhealth #healthysoil #regenerativefarms

🌍 HOW SORGHUM TREE HELP US FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE 🌱 With the climate crisis growing, sorghum trees are stepping up as powerful climate allies. Here’s what makes them so impactful: ✅ Carbon Absorption Powerhouse: Sorghum trees capture large amounts of CO₂ from the atmosphere, storing it in their roots, branches, and leaves. This natural carbon capture helps slow down global warming. ✅ Drought-Resilient Warriors: Thriving in arid regions, sorghum trees don’t just survive in dry conditions—they thrive. Their resilience makes them an ideal option for restoring drylands, combating desertification, and protecting soils in water-scarce areas. ✅ Green Energy Source: Sorghum trees are also highly effective for biofuel production, offering a sustainable energy alternative. By using biofuels from sorghum, we cut down on fossil fuel reliance, leading to fewer emissions. ✅ Supporting Local Ecosystems: These trees improve soil health and support biodiversity. By adding organic matter to the soil and reducing erosion, sorghum trees create a more robust habitat for other plants and animals. By planting more sorghum trees, we not only help the planet heal but also create opportunities for greener, more sustainable growth in vulnerable regions. Let’s act for a climate-positive future 🌿🌏 Lê Mỹ Hằng #ClimateAction #SorghumTrees #CarbonCapture #Biofuel #SustainableForestry #EcoFriendly #TTG

An indication of just how complex our ecosystems are: "Generally, an increase in [forest-produced cooling aerosols] will lead to more ozone production and a slower removal of methane as BVOCs react with the same gas which would otherwise destroy it (the hydroxyl radical). This leads to an increase in ozone and methane, driving a warming and opposing the cooling effect from aerosol and clouds." https://lnkd.in/gpn-7Nw2
