🚨 Update on the Uber Sexual Assault MDL 🚨 Mass tort litigation against Uber is gaining traction in California state court, with an MDL pending and thousands of claims expected. Despite procedural setbacks and attempts to avoid facts, Uber's defense strategy is facing significant challenges. The appeal was denied, and discovery is moving forward. 🏛️ Key Developments: ▪ Procedural Setbacks: Lost argument on terms of usage, with the "non-consolidated clause" failing to prevent MDL or consolidated state court action. ▪ Appeal Denied: Judges are proceeding with discovery despite Uber's objections and appeals. ▪ Upcoming Trial: The first trial is scheduled for summer 2025 in California state court. ▪ Anticipated Litigation Surge: Expected to pick up steam in Q4 2024 and early 2025. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to monitor this significant case. 🔗 www.blueskylegal.com #MassTort #LegalUpdate #UberLawsuit #BlueSkyLegal

Important Updates in Uber Mass Tort This week Judge Breyer, who oversees, the Uber MDL entered 2 important orders establishing the Short Form Complaint and Plaintiff Fact Sheet. For cases in the MDL before March 26, 2024, Plaintiff has 60 days to complete the PFS but for newly filed cases, only 30 days. This 30 day window is less than we typically see so I would recommend completing the PFS at the timing of filing. With the SFC and PFS in place, this litigation can now pick up speed and really focus on discovery from Uber about what they knew and when they knew it. Expect to see the total number of cases triple before the end of 2024. #joedoeslaw #masstorts #uber

Stop simply paying your traffic tickets online because you “want to get it over with.” That is the absolute worst thing you could do. By paying the tickets online, you are not only paying much more than you have to by not setting your tickets for Court (traffic hearing officers are often willing to resolve tickets by significantly reducing fines), but you are being adjudicated guilty of every ticket you pay online. This means points on your license. Points mean increases (drastic) in your insurance premiums, and possible license suspensions for accumulation of points (point suspension). As well, if you are paying Driving While License Suspended/Unknowingly citations online, you are accumulating convictions that could make you a Habitual Traffic Offender. If you become an HTO, your license will be revoked for a five year period. And driving on an HTO revocation is a felony. Be smart about your traffic tickets. Don’t just pay them so you can put them out of your mind. You are creating much more harm that could lead to criminal consequences. EricMathenyLaw.com

Robinson, executive partner of our #NewportBeach office, explores the reasoning behind the Court's decision and discusses key takeaways for moving forward.
