New episode!
For this episode, we are thrilled to have Stefan Dechant the Oscar-nominated Production Designer whose imagination and desire to tell stories has stretched from the Spielberg-tinged streets of his Ohio childhood to working with legends like Saul Bass, to Industrial Light & Magic, to design opportunities on a myriad of Robert Zemeckis films, and more! As we peel back the layers of Stefan's illustrious (see what we did there) career, we uncover the influences of his youth and how a simple love for drawing evolved into designing some of cinema's most unforgettable worlds. Stefan's story is a tale of taking chances and moving into uncomfortable spaces and roles to achieve your goals. Stefan also has no qualms about letting you know that imposter syndrome is real, and what you need to do to overcome it is jump into the creative and hope that it lifts you up and you can surf on its waves! https://lnkd.in/gAtsPiD6

https://lnkd.in/gy8RP-CM As one of the first trauma-informed design consultants in the UK’s built environment, I’m excited to share that I’ll be speaking at The Academy of Urbanism’s Quality of Life: Remaking the Post-Industrial City conference on October 4th 🎤 This is a massive opportunity for me to finally get out there and start sharing publicly some of the research I’ve been working on over the past few years—research rooted in both my professional journey and lived experiences. What makes this even more meaningful is that it allows me to highlight some of the tragic events we’ve witnessed recently, especially what happened in Southport , which has shook communities and sparked global outrage. It's clear we need to do more to make our cities safer and healing spaces for everyone. We now have the research, tools, and people to start creating environments that support safety, resilience, and connection. I can’t wait to jump into this conversation and show how trauma-informed design can be part of the solution. Really excited to see everyone there and to start creating real meaningful change in how we think about the spaces and communities we are designing for 💡 For now here is an insight into the type of work I have been doing, a video that was the turning point in my own research and journey of sharing my personal experience curated with the talented Raven Maguire and Leela Maguire. Lets Design for Healing No more disguise ✨

Hello everyone! 💜 Today I'm making a post about a project that I completed last year and that I don't think I've talked about here at all. I feel it's necessary for you to get to know me and what I do. In addition to being responsible for the #visual concept in every project I participate in, creating multiple visual variations, and the final outcome, which is the key visual (KV) for an entire campaign or event, I also handle the implementation of these KVs on both online and offline promotional materials. In other words, everything you'll see in this project is done in #Adobe #Illustrator and #Adobe #InDesign. I handle #print materials with the same care as I do in creating a #KV. I really enjoy working in this creative field, and I believe it's important for a #graphic #designer to be #open-minded and learn about the print aspect. In this project, I've included some print materials to show how the KV adapts and transforms according to surface and dimensions. I invite you to explore my #project and leave a #comment. I'm open to #collaborations, especially in everything related to visual creativity and #print. So, I hope you enjoy what you see. 👁 💛 💜 💙 https://lnkd.in/dSspghJJ

In a sea of visual typeface pollution created by entities merely looking for a quick buck enter the timeless words of designer Massimo Vignelli. There's a reason some typefaces endure when most fizzle. It's called great design. We creatives can find most everything we need in a dozen or so masterful typefaces. The vast majority of the rest are...well...che brutto. I'm interested in design that holds up over time. Clear. Clean. Simple. Lasting. I'd be interested to know what your go-to typefaces are and why? In Austin, Texas, you'll find a strange museum. Scratch that… WEIRD is the better word. It's actually called The Museum of the Weird. This place is home to a mind-boggling collection of curiosities, from wax figures of movie monsters (including a HUGE King Kong) to the infamous Fiji Mermaid. Stroll around and you'll spot mummies, a two-headed calf, and even a cursed painting. Feeling brave? Test your problem-solving skills in the "Mystery Room" or immerse yourself in the interactive "Phantasmagoria" exhibit. The Museum of the Weird is not your average museum. And likewise, your brand needs that special something that sets you apart from competitors. The point? Embrace your quirks and let your brand personality shine. Blending in with the boring corporate crowd is a surefire way to be forgotten. So wave your weird flag. After all, why be normal when you can be wonderfully weird? #Marketing #BrandPersonality #BeUnique #StandOutFromTheCrowd #EmbraceYourWeird
