In today’s rapidly evolving workplace, the quest for innovative and effective training solutions is more pressing than ever. Enter game-based training, a dynamic approach that revolutionizes learning and development across industries. At its core, game-based training is built on three foundational pillars: accessibility, safety, and cost-efficiency. Here’s why it’s a game changer: 🌍 Accessibility: Empowering Learners Everywhere Game-based training democratizes learning by transcending traditional barriers. Digital platforms and mobile technologies ensure that training materials are not confined to a specific location or time, making learning opportunities available to a wider audience. This inclusive approach caters to diverse learning styles and needs, enhancing engagement and retention. 🔒 Safety: A Risk-Free Environment for Skill Development In fields where real-life training can pose significant risks—be it healthcare, aviation, or heavy industries—game-based training offers a safe haven. Simulated environments allow learners to practice skills, make decisions, and learn from mistakes without real-world consequences. This risk-free setting fosters confidence and competence. 💸 Cost-Efficiency: Maximizing ROI on Training Investments A standout advantage of game-based training is its ability to simulate real-world scenarios where mistakes can have high costs. In these virtual environments, learners can "break" things without financial repercussions, unlike in the real world where such errors can lead to significant expenses. This unique feature not only eliminates the fear of costly mistakes but also encourages experimentation and learning from errors, all within a cost-effective framework. The initial investment in setting up a game-based training system is often quickly recuperated through savings on traditional training expenses like venue rentals, travel, and physical materials. Moreover, the efficiency and effectiveness of this learning approach can lead to improved performance and productivity, enhancing the overall return on investment in training. In Conclusion: As we navigate the challenges and opportunities of the 21st-century workplace, game-based training stands out as a forward-thinking solution that aligns with the needs of modern learners and organizations alike. By leveraging the power of technology to make training more accessible, safe, and cost-effective, we can unlock the full potential of our workforce.

Provision of Inclusion Learning and Development Consultancy Contract Healthcare NHSBT is looking for a proactive partner organisation who will help to develop and deliver the inclusion training. We believe that there are several aspects to this. The selected partner organisation will work with the Forward Together Project 3 team to design and deliver a comprehensive program of learning and development that includes, but is not limited to, the following components: 1. Needs Analysis and Learner Journey Mapping: Conduct an organisation-wide analysis to understand the specific requirements, cultural context, existing knowledge maturity and learner journey regarding key themes (e.g., anti-racism, civility, cultural intelligence, allyship, active bystander, microaggressions, inclusion, and being able to recognise and challenge discrimination). This will include mapping out the resulting inclusion competencies required for staff and managers. 2. Design and development: Create a learning and development offer with clearly defined learning outcomes that work for our organisation-wide audience in pursuit of achieving the outcomes shown in Figure 1 (below). The offer should include a mix of theoretical concepts, case studies, interactive exercises, group discussions, and practical applications. These should be designed for delivery in face-to-face, online, blended or hybrid modes, where appropriate. 3. Delivery and facilitation: Deliver the training sessions either in-person, virtually, or through a blended or hybrid learning approach, considering the organisation's preferences and logistical constraints. 4. Resources: Provide comprehensive learning resources, including handouts, reference guides, and any digital resources required for the participants to further their learning and understanding. 5. Evaluation and assessment: Embed and use evaluation mechanisms to measure the impact of the training, such as pre- and post-training assessments, attendance sheets, participant feedback surveys, post-event impact surveys, and opportunities to measure transfer from initial learning to embedded actions. The Learning Services team at NHSBT currently use the Thalheimer LTEM model and this would be our preferred methodology. 6. Transition: Use efficient methods to ensure that product ownership and facilitation can integrate into the resources available within NHSBT (e.g., through a potential "Train the Trainer" approach), enabling a transition from a project-specific intervention to a Business-as-Usual arrangement. Value of contract £100,000 to £300,000 Deadline: 25 March 2024 If you intend to bid and require any support with making applications, please contact lisa@bidrightuk.co.uk

Many organisations rely on off-the-shelf (large library) training for their employees. While this approach works for generic topics, it often falls short in several key areas: ❌ Not Branded: Off-the-shelf training lacks your organisation's unique branding. ❌ Not Tailor-Made: These solutions aren't customised to reflect your specific policies, procedures, and direction. ❌ No Flexibility: You can’t easily make changes or additions to the content. ❌ Language Limitations: Adapting the training to different languages can be challenging. ❌ Engagement Issues: Often, these trainings are generic and can be boring, making them less relevant to your team. On the other hand, Custom E-learning offers a solution that is perfectly aligned with your organisation’s needs: ✅ Highly Interactive: Custom e-learning is designed to be engaging and interactive, making learning more enjoyable and memorable. ✅ Tailored Content: We use your own policies, procedures, and brand guidelines to create bespoke training modules. ✅ Flexibility: Easily update and modify content as your organisation evolves. ✅ Multilingual Support: Seamlessly redevelop modules into multiple languages to support diverse teams. ✅ Invest in Employees: Show your team that you are committed to their development with high-quality, relevant training. In summary, while off-the-shelf training can serve a purpose, it often isn't the best solution for companies serious about effective training. Custom e-learning is the ultimate solution to ensure your training is impactful, engaging, and aligned with your organisational goals. Curious to see how custom e-learning could benefit your organisation? Let’s jump on a call and I can show you some of our incredibly custom built e-learning modules.

When designing training activities, it's important to consider several principles to ensure they align with your objectives and are effective in achieving your desired outcomes. These principles include alignment with objectives, engagement, relevance, variety, progression, feedback and reflection, application to real-world situations, accessibility and inclusivity, and flexibility and adaptability. To ensure activities align with your objectives, make sure each one directly supports one or more of the stated objectives. Activities should be purposeful and contribute to the overall learning outcomes. Additionally, designing activities that actively engage participants and encourage their active participation can enhance engagement and retention. Incorporating a variety of training activities that cater to different learning styles and preferences can also keep participants engaged and motivated. To ensure relevance, make sure training activities are relevant to the participants' roles, responsibilities, and real-world challenges. Use examples and scenarios that resonate with their experiences and contexts, and structure the training activities in a logical sequence that builds upon previous learning and gradually increases in complexity. Feedback and reflection are also essential components of effective training activities. Providing constructive feedback to participants on their performance and encouraging them to reflect on their learning and identify areas for improvement can help them retain and apply what they have learned. Designing activities that allow participants to apply the knowledge and skills they've acquired to real-world situations can also provide opportunities for practical application and skill development. Finally, it's important to ensure that training activities are accessible to all participants, taking into account factors such as language, cultural background, and individual learning needs. Providing accommodations and adaptations as necessary to ensure inclusivity, and being prepared to adapt training activities based on the dynamics of the group, unexpected challenges, or emerging needs, can help tailor the training to better meet the objectives and address participants' evolving requirements. By incorporating these principles into your training activities, you can ensure that they are effective, engaging, and relevant to your participants' needs and goals.

In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, the effectiveness of employee training is more crucial than ever. As Learning and Development (L&D) professionals and HR managers, you understand the significant impact that training programs can have on organizational success. However, a one-size-fits-all approach to training is increasingly proving to be inefficient and costly. The Inefficiency of Generic Training According to the 2023 Training Industry Report, companies in the US alone spent an average of $954 per learner, a decrease from $1,207 per learner in 2022. Despite this reduction, the need for more efficient training solutions remains critical. Generic training programs, which do not account for varying knowledge levels and learning styles, often result in disengaged employees and poor knowledge retention. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚-𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 Ultra-customized training, which leverages advanced AI technology to tailor learning plans to individual needs, offers several key advantages: • Time Efficiency: By focusing on what employees need to learn and bypassing what they already know, customized training saves valuable time. On average, employees received fewer training hours (57 hours in 2023 compared to 62 hours in 2022), indicating a need for more focused and efficient training sessions. • Cost Savings: Customized training can reduce unnecessary training expenditures. The overall training expenditures rose slightly to $28.7 billion in 2023 from $28.3 billion in 2022, indicating that while budgets are increasing, there is a demand for more effective allocation. • Enhanced Engagement: Training programs that cater to individual learning styles and current knowledge levels are more engaging, leading to better retention and application of knowledge. The report highlights that 31% of organizations faced challenges with learner engagement post-pandemic, underscoring the need for more engaging training solutions. 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 Today’s technology allows us to assess an individual's knowledge and comprehension accurately, providing ultra-customized training that caters to each specific learner. E-learning training has numerous advantages over traditional in-person training methods. Here are several reasons why e-learning stands out as a superior choice for training purposes: ➡️ Flexibility and Accessibility It provides an anytime, anywhere approach, access to training materials for employees regardless of location, benefiting remote teams, those with diverse schedules, and travelers. Enables trainees to advance through the content at their preferred speed catering to various learning speeds and preferences. ➡️ Cost-Effectiveness Can effectively decrease training expenses by removing costs associated with travel, accommodation, printed materials. Training initiatives can be effortlessly expanded to accommodate a vast number of employees without necessitating extra physical resources, rendering it a cost-efficient solution for organisations of varying sizes. ➡️Consistency and Standardisation All employees receive the same training content, reducing discrepancies that can arise from different instructors and teaching methods. Online training materials can be quickly and easily updated to reflect the latest industry standards. ➡️Enhanced Engagement and Interactivity It incorporates various multimedia elements such as videos, interactive simulations, quizzes to make training more engaging and effective. Features like discussion forums, live chats allow employees to interact with trainers and peers, fostering a more engaging learning environment. ➡️ Tracking and Assessment E-learning platforms often come with built-in tracking and reporting tools that allow trainers and managers to monitor employee progress and performance in real-time. Analytics provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of a training program, identifying areas where employees may need additional support or where the training content could be improved. ➡️Personalised Learning Experience E-learning systems adapt content based on learner proficiency, providing extra resources or challenges. Customisable training paths allow companies to tailor training to specific department needs or individual staff. ➡️Improved Retention and Application Allows employees to revisit training materials when needed, helping to reinforce knowledge and improve retention. Making them immediately apply what they’ve learned to their work. ➡️Environmentally Friendly By eliminating the need for printed materials and reducing travel, e-learning is a more sustainable option that helps decrease an organisation’s carbon footprint. Overall, e-learning offers a flexible and cost-effective approach to employee training, making it an ideal solution for organisations seeking to enhance their training programs. Its ability to provide up-to-date, and engaging content, coupled with the convenience of accessing training anytime and anywhere, makes it a powerful tool for developing a skilled and knowledgeable workforce. #elearning #training #online

Organisations invest so much money in classroom training (and now virtual or online training) as the main solution to developing their people, yet the results are never up to their expectations. If this is the case, then why do they keep doing it? It wastes time and money and does not deliver impact. I have 2 issues with classroom and online training. One is that it is not effective by itself as it only addresses 10% of how people learn. For example, if you want to learn to swim, do you only attend an online course or learn in a classroom? Perhaps you can learn some terminology and see some swimming in action, however you will not be able to competently (and safely swim). The other issue is delivery. We interview and assess many trainers as part of our recruitment process. Whilst many of them are subject matter experts, they are not learning experts. They do what comes most comfortable to them – sharing their knowledge to participants in a lecture style. This is neither effective nor engaging. Subject matter experts need to become learning facilitators so they can deliver learning in an engaging way that is focused on the learner. There are more effective ways to support your people to learn to achieve impact via the other 90% of how they learn. With peer to peer learning in the workplace and structured and supported workplace learning. It will take more resources to support your people in this way and will deliver greater results and more impact. If you want help in upskilling your HR or L&D teams to deliver real impact in learning activities, please reach out to me. Follow me for more insights in maximising learning impact in your organisation.
