Celebrating Day of the Seafarer 2024: Salute to Our Seafarers On Day of the Seafarer 2024, the Bangladesh Maritime Law Society (BMLS) honours the valiant seafarers who navigate the vast oceans, ensuring the smooth flow of global trade and commerce. This day, chosen by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and celebrated annually on June 25th, is a witness to the invaluable contributions and sacrifices made by the men and women who work tirelessly at sea. Seafarers are the backbone of the maritime industry, playing a pivotal role in sustaining the global supply chain.  The theme for this year's Day of the Seafarer is ‘Seafarers’ Contribution to Maritime Trade’, highlighting the critical role these professionals play in an interconnected world. BMLS is committed to advocating for the rights and welfare of seafarers, despite the challenges faced by the maritime sector, including long periods of isolation, adverse weather conditions, and the threat of piracy.  BMLS recommits to enhancing working conditions, ensuring fair treatment, and providing robust support systems for seafarers’ mental and physical well-being. BMLS calls upon maritime stakeholders, policymakers, and the global community to recognize and address the unique challenges faced by seafarers, encouragement a just, safe, and supportive maritime environment. #DayOfTheSeafarer #SeafarersMatter #MaritimeTrade #BMLS #GlobalTrade #SeafarerWelfare #IMO #SafetyTipsAtSea
