Wood is well-known as a global leader when it comes to consulting and engineering and the company has recently completed the front-end engineering and design (FEED) scope for aramco’s Accelerated Carbon Capture and Sequestration (ACCS) first phase. This project is based in Saudi Arabia and it is expected to be the world’s largest carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) hub, once it is finished. This project has set out a clear ambition for its first goal, which is to increase the reduction of carbon emissions which are being produced by their upstream operations, specifically Aramco gas plant facilities, which are situated near Jubail. This plant is based on the east coast of Saudi Arabia and alongside this aim, the project will also be looking to reduce emissions from third-party emitters. The article below depicts the most recent project which has been finished by Wood. The article also talks about the significance of this project, the plan around the project and it highlights how beneficial this excellent achievement will be to the carbon capture industry. Did you know what are the risk associated with the offshore Constrution project in crowded water ? There are three types of risk associated with execution phase which are as follows : 1. Marine traffic and logistics Management 2. Interface with subsea assets 3. Offshore construction costs and logistics. The project management team need to address these challenges in early stages of project planning. When there is huge risk involved in execution then project team need to spend more time in planning phase. project team need to sit in brain storming sessions, these session help to produce mitigation measure against associated risk. For better understanding i am refering you to a case study Saudi Aramco: Offshore Construction in Crowded Waters (2021). Saudi aramco planned to increment oil production capacity in marjan and zuluf. The project team identified above risk and started brainstorming sessions to find the mitigation measure. The project team suggested and implemented following mitigation measure: 1-Technical solutions 2- Use of renewable solar energy to power the new facility, this idea eliminate additional subsea cable and pipeline crossings. 3- Administrative measures associated with the fields’ management and marine vessel control, including the establishment of dedicated navigation channels and anchorage areas. The mitigation measures span over almost all project execution phases. Some of these measures were implemented as part of awarded contracts, while others are being implemented in the engineering and detailed design phase. The remaining will be implemented in the construction phase. #riskmanagement #offshoreconstruction #projectmanagement #constructionmanagement #casestudy
