I am feeling surprisingly calm today compared to this time last year! And from that 'calmness' comes a strong lesson for all business owners...
Less than 18 months ago, The Hertfordshire Business Growth Show was just a crazy idea. 'Wouldn't be great if there was an inspiring local event to help, support and motivate local business owners. Somewhere where they could come together for a day to learn, connect, grow, do some good for our local community and, of course, have some fun too'. That was the vision.
Well, tomorrow over 200 like-minded business people will be doing just that as they gather in Harpenden, for the second time, to enjoy a fabulous day of learning, meeting other like-minded business people and taking time out of their business to re-charge and get motivated.
And for me, this year's journey has been a master class in the importance of surrounding yourself with good people to help make things happen!
So much of the success this year has been down to surrounding ourselves with a great team. Like-minded people who also buy into the vision, understand the importance of 'giving back' to support our business community and also recognise that so much good comes from supporting worthy local causes too!
And that's the biggest lesson for us all...
Great people achieve great things together so surround yourself with amazing people who are better than you!
This year our wider team has included experts in social media, marketing, events, logistics, design, AV, photography, speaking, video, planning and so much more and that's why I am feeling remarkably calmer than I was this time last year.
Of course, the first time you do anything is always a huge learning curve but tomorrow my intention is to relax, enjoy the day and be inspired from just hanging around with like-minded people who lift me up and motivate me.
If you are joining us tomorrow do come over and say hi. I will be the chilled out person looking remarkably calm, collected and relaxed and soaking up the unique atmosphere that only comes from surrounding yourself with like-minded business people all motivated to grow their businesses and succeed.
See you there!
