As recruiters, we're now tasked with finding people who can master skills that don't yet exist. Young workers today are entering a job market that's evolving at an exceptional pace, largely due to AI. Their readiness to adopt this technology is great, but it also highlights the urgent need for our recruitment systems to adapt. Instead of focusing solely on past experience or specific qualifications, we need to train our systems to match individuals with the capacity to learn, adapt, and innovate. This means looking for core attributes like problem-solving ability, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. #hiring #recruitment #technology

HOW AI IS AFFECTING JOB POSTINGS IN YOUR CAREER SEARCH You're looking for a job. You find the perfect one. You see that 3,000 people have applied. You feel disheartened. You wonder how in the world you can even start to break through the clutter. Is it even worth your time to apply? Does anyone even look at this folder? AI has increased the number of people submitting applications for positions. It has caused a huge bottleneck for recruiters and while AI Tools on the receiving end are used to help in processing this uptick in applicants, they are not always used nor 100% accurate. Afterall, hiring people is still a PEOPLE business. No matter how many tools you use, a people business still requires...people. To talk and hire actual other...people. And we are starting to see the pendulum swing back to companies not post their positions, due to an overwhelm of unqualified candidates. Which means...what do you, as a job seeker, do? We have a Rapid Accelerator Program that helps with all of this and we are currently seeking employed candidates to run the BETA portion of the program with. As a candidate, how do you IMPROVE your MARKETABILITY and STAND OUT? With the jobs market proving stubbornly sluggish, candidates are increasingly asking recruiters how to improve their chances of landing a role. The good news is that there are some quick wins here and "It's not rocket science" as Oppenheimer used to say! One key consideration in improving your chances is to consider what the companies for which you wish to work, are looking for. We are all aware that there is a skills shortage so how do you improve how your skills are presented? AI is on everyone's lips. 50% of CEOs list it in their top 3 agenda points for 2024. Everyone is scrambling to understand what it is, what it means and what it can do. Whilst understanding AI in its entirety is a big (and unachievable) undertaking and I am not suggesting you try and become an expert, simple steps of learning the basics will hugely improve your marketability. Start by familiaring yourself with accessible AI-powered tools such as MS Copilot and ensure it is on your CV. With recruiters and Talent teams using keyword searches, it has never been more important to upskill your CV with terms hirers want. Karen Gittins Luba Turner Assoc CIPD Christina AMDAS Resourcer
