This Safe Work Month, BOC and South Pacific Welding Group are raising awareness about the serious risks of welding fumes—not just for welders but for everyone nearby. Welding fumes are carcinogenic, with exposure leading to severe health issues like respiratory problems and long-term lung damage. Safety starts with making smart choices upfront: choosing low-fume processes, safer shielding gases, and filler metals that reduce emissions can protect everyone on site. Combine these proactive choices with proper ventilation, protective gear, and solid fume extraction systems to ensure a safer environment for all. This month, and every month onwards, let’s put health first by managing fume risks effectively and committing to safety across every worksite. Stricter welding regulations require improved measures in workplaces: Are your welders safe at work? 👨🏭 With increased knowledge of the health risks associated with welding fumes, local legislations around the world has been strengthened to protect workers. It´s a must for all industries with welding applications to be compliant with local requirements and provide solutions for capturing and filtering welding fumes. It´s also a must to effectively train welders on the importance of clean air and how to effectively utilize fume extraction equipment to maximize protection. Simple changes including automation tools, proper hood placement and regular maintenance practices can make a big difference in performance. 📞 Contact your local Nederman expert to learn more, we help you ensure a safe and compliant working environment. #thecleanaircompany #healthandsafety #workersafety #workplacesafety #welding

⚠️ Welding Fume Safety: Protecting Health and Ensuring Compliance ⚠️ Welding fumes contain hazardous substances that pose serious health risks to workers, including respiratory issues and long-term illnesses. Ensuring a safe work environment is crucial for both compliance and the well-being of employees. At DUO Safety, we’re committed to promoting safe practices for handling welding fumes: ✅ Ventilation and Extraction: Use local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems to capture fumes at the source and improve air quality. ✅ Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ensure workers use the correct respirators and protective gear to minimize exposure. ✅ Training and Awareness: Educate employees about the risks of welding fumes and the importance of using safety equipment and proper procedures. ✅ Regular Monitoring: Conduct air quality checks and health screenings to ensure a safe work environment. Keeping the air clear means keeping your team safe. Prioritize welding fume control to protect your workers’ health and uphold safety standards. Choose DUO Safety for guidance on effective fume control and training solutions. 🛠️ #WeldingSafety #WeldingFumes #WorkerHealth #DUOSafety #AirQuality #PPE #OccupationalSafety

General ventilation with recirculation - sometimes named general filtration because involves filtration, too, and not only forced ventilation is a method with high volume of air treated. In welding workshops 👨🏭 👩🏭 💥 💤 the total air volume should be filtered between 3 and 15 times per hour. This needs to be engineered properly thinking at the industrial processes inside the workshop and the amount of fume / dust inside. #advantages? Well, the first is the clean air inside the workshop and the operators - welders do not have to positioned extraction hoods following the welding fumes - they can be mobile inside the workshop and do their work with more productivity and quality because they are focusing on work and only on work. #disadvantages? Not really, but anyway there is no source extraction involved and that means the welding fume are free to rise and people on the premises inhale toxic fumes before it is filtered and so they can be protected directly by wearing PAPR - PPE with fresh air in the breathing zone and so they are protected directly. #atitude #removethedust #removethefume #removetheexposure

Are you based in Western Australia? Need more information on the changes to weld fume exposure limits? Register now for our upcoming FREE event at North Metropolitan TAFE in Midland. Our expert panel will discuss the latest changes to welding fume exposure limits. We will cover: the background to the changes, WHS requirements, compliance and control options, and support mechanisms. The event will also include exhibits by some of Weld Australia’s primary partners, featuring their latest welding products, technologies and innovations. On 18 January, Safe Work Australia announced that Work Health and Safety Ministers have agreed to an immediate reduction in the workplace exposure standard for welding fumes, from an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) of 5 mg/m3 to 1 mg/m3. All necessary controls must be implemented to meet this higher standard. https://bit.ly/3TnZtcL #WesternAustralia #WeldAustralia #WeldingIndustry #Welding #AustralianWelders #WeldingEvent #WelderSafety #WeldingFume

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 **INDIGO'S DAILY SAFETY TOPICS** 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 In the world of welding, the one-stop solution is often the utilization of oxygen and acetylene cylinders. Known to be uniquely useful yet demanding appropriate handling, these cylinders have been transforming industrial operations effectively. They have facilitated efficiency in many an industry, providing excellent welding outcomes. However, as impressive as their capabilities are, maintaining safety while using these cylinders is paramount. With safety in mind, we can harness the full potential of oxygen and acetylene cylinders whilst prioritizing our well-being. To achieve safety and efficiency with these cylinders, established protocols need to be observed. Here are few critical pointers: 1. Having a good understanding of the properties of both oxygen and acetylene is key. Their associated risks and precautions to take form foundational knowledge for safe handling. 2. Regular inspection of the cylinders and their regulators can prevent leakages and other potential dangers. This involves confirming if cylinders are free from corrosion, dents, or other damage. 3. Ensuring that cylinders are properly stored in upright, secure locations away from combustibles is crucial. They should never be subjected to high temperatures as this could increase their pressure dangerously. Safety around oxygen and acetylene cylinders doesn't just happen; it's a result of careful attention to guidelines and principles. Proper education on the handling, storage, and usage of these cylinders is crucial for everyone working with them. By weaving safety procedures into our daily activities, we harness the benefits of these cylinders without succumbing to avoidable hazards. Not only do we ensure our personal safety, we also maintain and prolong the functionality of the equipment. 1. Are you following the necessary safety protocols with your oxygen and acetylene cylinders? 2. How often do you conduct a thorough inspection of your cylinders? #SafetyFirst #WeldingCommunity #OxygenAcetyleneCylinders #WeldingSafety 🚀🔧🔥🏭🧯👷♀️⚠️👨🔧🛠️
