At Bodyguard Workwear over 1/3 of our team are female. All of them are at different stages of their menopause journey, but one thing is for sure, it will affect or will have affected each one of them at some point of their lives. Within our business, we focused on the fact that although it's women that experience the menopause, it affects everyone. Unfortunately, the symptoms are such that they often have an impact on personal and work life, social and professional interactions and overall health and wellbeing and by extension affect everyone in some way. As an inclusive employer we wanted to raise awareness and support. Furthermore, due to the cultural and social stigma and taboo around the subject, and even lesser awareness amongst men, we put together an informative pack to also support our male colleagues to get a better understanding of the menopause and its far reaching impact. The pack contained lots of information and signposting to various resources. We created a theme this year, which is ‘Do just one thing’, to encourage everyone to do one thing to either increase their awareness, or support someone important to them, or show some empathy and not be dismissive about what someone might be going through. Many women experiencing symptoms do not feel able to discuss this with their managers or colleagues and suffer in silence and sometimes managers might not feel confident enough around this subject matter, so may avoid it. In future rather than this being a taboo subject or something that may be trivialised, we want to elevate the conversation and bring this important women's health issue into the open.

Offices Today - How much people know about menopause is staggering! Unfortunately, it is still commonplace in organisations: 90% of women say that they do not receive any support from their workplace to promote their well-being during menopause. It's clear to me that ignoring this issue damages the working environment and risks losing an experienced, qualified workforce. And the fact is that stigmas and taboos often keep the issue quiet, meaning that many companies are unaware of the problem. Instead, I have another suggestion: create an open dialogue about menopause in the workplace. Proactively addressing this taboo subject not only creates a supportive working environment, but also promotes team cohesion. And that, in turn, increases overall well-being and productivity. What do you think: should companies do more to support women going through the menopause? ~~~ ✍️ Are you a supporter of women 45+? ♻️ Re-post if this makes sense.

As an employer, have you planned your World Menopause Awareness Day yet? (18th October). Yesterday I had my first experience in a driverless car in San Francisco 😮exciting - and, at first, it felt a little insane! The thought of being driven by a car with no one behind the wheel felt surreal, but in a few years, it’ll probably seem crazy that I ever thought twice about it. In a few years, we'll likely look back and think it’s insane that we didn’t prioritise female health in the workplace before. When talking about attracting and retaining female talent - and female leaders, support for women navigating stages perimenopause will be non-negotiable. So why wait? We need to create workplaces where menopause is an open, unembarrassed topic. Why? It makes total business sense, because: ✅ 75% of women experience symptoms, and 25% of those are severe. It’s not just the “right thing to do”; supporting menopausal women boosts productivity, reduces absenteeism, and even cuts recruitment costs (1 in 4 women consider leaving work due to menopause). ✅It also reduces the risk of potential costly tribunals (which have been won by employees who weren’t supported during menopause). ✅Great companies invest in their people. Simple, low-cost changes can lead to swift and significant returns, both for employee well-being and your organisation’s bottom line. In short, awareness is key. That’s why it’s part of the “Conversation” element of my “3 C Approach.” I offer 60–90 minute awareness sessions, designed to introduce how menopause impacts women in the workplace, reduce stigma, and foster openness. These sessions are available digitally. I believe in this work so strongly that I’ve decided to enhance my existing core energy coaching skills and add menopause coach CPD accreditation to my practice, training with WomenofaCertainStage Let’s make midlife - and menopause inclusivity a priority, let's have a conversation #Worldmenopauseawarenessday #Menopauseintheworkplace #Femalehealth #Leadership #Inclusiveworkplaces #Attractandretain #Mindsetshifts

Early, perimenopause, and menopause can pose significant challenges for many women, particularly in the workplace. I've experienced firsthand the impact of symptoms like anxiety attacks, sleeplessness, and weight gain on confidence. It's crucial to understand, address, and be empathetic about these issues, especially since many women feel the need to leave work when their professional confidence should be at its peak and their contribution most valuable. At Lenovo, we are proud to work towards creating a menopause-friendly workplace. By sparking essential conversations, implementing supportive policies, and challenging taboos, we are leading the way towards a more inclusive environment. Our initiatives benefit not only those currently affected by menopause but also lay the foundation for a more supportive workplace for future generations. Let's celebrate on World Menopause Day, the journey we've taken so far whilst recognising the work that is still to be done. Last Thursday The Fuchsia Tent LLC proudly sponsored our first menopause event, hosted by Let's Talk Menopause and Caire Beauty. I had countless conversations with women who shared their experiences with the menopausal transition, and the most common theme of the night was how they have been impacted in the workplace. The sheer number of women I met, who have left jobs, or are considering leaving jobs was staggering, and there was a universal feeling that many workplaces still lack support and understanding for midlife women. While it is wonderful that the conversation around menopause is all over the media, with celebs from Halle Berry, Oprah, and Drew Barrymore shouting about it from the rooftops, the conversation is still taboo and stigmatized at work. According to a Bonafide Health, "Over 75% of women do not currently receive the amount of support they require in the workplace," which leads to absenteeism, disengagement, lower job satisfaction and higher medical costs. It is time to change the workplace conversation for individuals and organizations. Tomorrow, we will be launching Fuchsia@WORK, a workplace focused extension of The Fuchsia Tent, where we empower business sustainability by enhancing support for midlife women. Here's to creating a measured, compassionate approach to supporting midlife women that will enhance performance, increase job satisfaction, and improve talent retention and attraction. Who is with me? #workplacewomenshealth #businesssustainability #menopausematters #fuchsia@work

🌸 Breaking the Silence on Menopause in the Workplace 🌸 October is menopause awareness month so how aware is your office environment of what your 40+ year old female staff is going through? The workplace must adapt to support this phase of life so let’s break the stigma and start conversations that promote healthier, more inclusive work environments. Menopause isn't a female excuse to slack off - women understand that this would cost them their jobs. Ironically, trying to operate at 100% under normal working conditions whilst pretending that everything is OK is still costing women their jobs - they are cutting back or quitting because what they simply can not cope. What women go through in menopause is not being taken into respectful consideration in the workplace. This has to change. Unfortunately, the stigma surrounding menopause often prevents open discussions, leaving women without the support they need. Here's why menopause matters in the workplace: 🔸 Retention: Women at the peak of their careers shouldn't feel forced to leave due to symptoms that can be managed with the right accommodations. 🔸 Inclusion: Creating a culture of understanding ensures all employees feel valued, regardless of life stage. 🔸 Support: Simple adjustments, like flexible working hours or better awareness among colleagues, can make a significant difference. I offer a range of presentations that help bring understanding, education and support for women in the workplace. Menopause is a natural transition, yet many women suffer in silence, feeling isolated or misunderstood due to symptoms like hot flashes, brain fog, or fatigue. Don't lose valuable members of your team because you don't understand what they are going through. https://lnkd.in/ed3f-2Qx for corporate awareness and responsibility #MenopauseAwareness #InclusiveWorkplace #SupportWomenAtWork #EmployeeWellbeing #BreakingTheSilence

Today is World Menopause Day, an important reminder of the need to break the silence around menopause, especially in the workplace. For too long, menopause has been treated as a taboo subject, but it’s time to change that. Menopause affects millions of women, many of whom are at the peak of their careers. Yet, the lack of awareness, understanding, and support often leads to unnecessary challenges—ranging from stress and discomfort to career setbacks. We need to foster environments where women feel empowered to speak openly about their experiences without fear of stigma. Organizations can start by offering flexible working options, providing menopause training for managers, and creating supportive policies. By doing so, we not only improve employee well-being but also foster a more inclusive, empathetic workplace culture. Let’s open the conversation and ensure that menopause is no longer a barrier to success for women in the workplace. #WorldMenopauseDay #BreakTheSilence #WorkplaceInclusivity #SupportAtWork

Let’s talk #menopause. It’s not often something we hear out loud in the workplace. Over 80% of women experiencing menopause are affected at work, but only 30% feel comfortable talking about it according to the Australasian Menopause Society. It’s clear more needs to be done to normalise the experience; we need to start talking openly about it, particularly in the #workplace. As the global leader of Women at Kenvue, it is my personal mission to foster a more understanding, compassionate, and #inclusive workplace where everyone, at any stage of their life, feels like they #belong. Not only is it the right thing to do – but it’s smart for business. Women at Kenvue hosted a global event on menopause and perimenopause in the workplace with renowned menopause expert Dr Lisa Larkin. With over 600 Kenvuers in attendance, the conversation was honest, insightful, and powerful. With the right support, women can better navigate this phase of life and continue to thrive in their careers. Whether you’re a colleague or a leader, here are three ways you can be more supportive: - Educate yourself and your team - Encourage open communication - Consider additional support or flexible ways of working for the person affected. #WeAreKenvue #WomenAtKenvue #WePutPeopleFirst #Wellbeing #Menopause Kenvue
