🌍 Celebrating a Milestone with PENNY | REWE Romania: 24,000 Products Saved! 🎉
We are thrilled to share an incredible achievement in our partnership with PENNY Romania! Together, we’ve successfully saved 24,000 (Yes, 24k !!!) products from going to waste. This means we’ve rescued 7.2 tons of food 🍎 and made an environmental impact equivalent to planting 622 trees 🌳.
Every time you save a product through bonapp.eco, you're not just reducing food waste—you're also conserving CO2, water, and the resources invested in producing these items.
Thank you to everyone who made this milestone possible! Let's keep making a positive impact together. 💚

In April 2024, LIDL already had its reverse vending machines of PET or aluminum containers in 53 stores in Poland. This year, LIDL launched a pilot bottle return program in all 21 of its stores in Glasgow, Scotland. For each returned empty drink container made of PET plastic or aluminum (with a capacity of 100ml-3l), customers receive 5 pence. The reward can be used for purchases or donated to The STV Children's Appeal.
Lidl has announced that, according to pilot estimates, at least 10.5 tons of plastic and aluminum will be recycled monthly, and the collected materials will be preserved and used to produce new plastic and aluminum products.
This initiative is a significant step towards reducing plastic waste and promoting recycling. It will be interesting to see the impact of this initiative and whether it will be expanded to more locations in the future.

There are 42 billion pounds of food wasted by retailers yearly. This week’s startup is fixing that...
Food waste leads to lost revenue and environmental harm, all while millions of Americans face hunger.
Goodie Bag, founded by Eddy Connors, Briana Boehmer, and Luke Siegert, connects unsold food from local businesses to customers at discounted prices, reducing waste and increasing access to affordable food.
Backed by Clear Current Capital, Stray Dog Capital, Techstars, and others, this company is transforming how we tackle food waste and sustainability.

Over 40% of vending machine sales globally come from sugary drinks and single use snacks, creating millions of tons of waste every year.
At StashMunch, we’re not just providing convenience, we’re leading a change
Here’s how:
- Impact by the numbers: The average vending machine generates over 400 lbs of waste per year, our smart inventory and green initiatives aim to cut that by 30% or more.
- ♻️ Giving back to the planet: Every machine includes a recycling basket for bottle caps, to support children with cancer.
We believe vending shouldn’t just serve snacks, it should serve the world. Are you ready to join the change?

The Seafood industry has never been more competitive.
Consumers are demanding suppliers to be greener, more sustainable and environmentally friendly - but are they willing to pay for it?
The team at Disruptive Packaging have been working relentlessly to maximise the commercial efficiencies of our packaging with UNICOR to ensure our customers can benefit.
We aren't just creating another box. We aren't just substituting one material for another more sustainable material.
We are raising the bar in terms of achieving maximum efficiencies in volume without compromising on performance.
This is being achieved right now with our seafood customers all across the globe.
Processors and exporters are able to increase their freight loads exponentially without increasing their cubic. This means a lower landed cost per kg/lb to be price competitive and achieve better margins while also lowering carbon emissions by transporting more with each shipment.
Its Win Win for all. Are you in?
Currently, 10% of the global population faces food insecurity. By reducing food waste, we can combat hunger and get food into the hands of more people.
I'm excited to share the progress being made by Refresh:Food, a tech-based solution developed by Woolworths Group in partnership with BCG X. This innovative digital marketplace seeks to repurpose food waste and deliver food to those who need it most. As of April, 1 million meals have been donated through this platform.

Food waste is a global issue, causing significant environmental, social and economic repercussions; 33% of all food produced worldwide is discarded or wasted.
To play our part, we partnered with the environmental charity, Hubbub, to launch our fourth employee engagement campaign on ‘Fighting Food Waste’, encouraging our colleagues around the globe to implement changes that help combat food-related waste.
As part of this campaign, a number of our colleagues participated in a recent ‘Sustainable Living: Let’s Get Cooking’ event. This initiative aimed to equip employees in practical ways to minimise food waste; from utilising vegetable off-cuts, to maximising shelf life and encouraging plant-based recipes.
This year, Playtech has prioritised the reduction of food-related waste, emphasising the value of sustainability across our offices. Small changes to our habits like bringing in lunch from home can have a big impact on the environment and potentially lead to other long term behavioural changes. We’re proud that each office has implemented at least one change to decrease food-related waste.

As a huge fan of the work Hubbub 🌏 does (seriously, go follow them if you haven't already!), it has been wonderful to partner with them this past year and deliver engaging employee campaigns on environmental action, both at the workplace and at home.
Our latest campaign? Tackling food-related waste 🍌 - at work and at home!
When it comes to structuring these campaigns, we've kept four things in mind:
1 What tangible steps can Playtech take to tackle the issue?
2. How can we empower and inform employees to make a positive impact at work and home?
3. How can we make it fun and creative?
4. Can we track our progress and positive impact?
For this food-related waste campaign, our approach involved:
1. Engaging office managers across over 20 locations, each committing to at least one in-office change to reduce food-related waste
2. Creating the below video highlighting the impact of food waste on the planet, complemented by an intranet site housing additional resources
3. Filming an entertaining cooking challenge to showcase tips and tricks for minimising waste, coupled with the creation of a company-wide low-waste recipe book (in progress 👀)
4. Tracking and monitoring the office changes EG: The number of times excess food is donated to charities (UK people, check out Plan Zheroes - The Zero Food Waste Heroes)
I am always keen to hear new and creative ways to engage with employees on sustainability, so please share if you have any ideas!

What a GOOD year! We’ve shared new good flavors, have done good for our communities and met some really good people along the way, including our very first two customers. 🤯
Here are our top 5 highlights and lessons we learned this year:
1. Fruit, in itself, is sweet enough: on average, sugar makes up 17% of what kids consume each day. This year, we further committed to our mission to prove that sweet treats don’t need excessive amounts of sugar to taste good, and launched even more fruit-based, no added sugar varieties!
2. The “good” in GoodPop goes further than good-tasting treats: we partnered with thousands of volunteers and multiple brands to participate in the nation’s largest volunteer day: Good Deeds Day! Communities gathered in 18 cities to clean parks + oceans, host food drives, donate blood, care for animals and plant gardens + trees.
3. Dare to go where you’ve never been: We launched an LTO with the nationally recognized french fry brand, Ore-ida to redefine the nostalgic combination of french fries and ice cream. Thus the French Fry Pop was born - and sold out within a matter of minutes! And we learned that people want more nostalgic and interesting flavor combinations.
4. Our planet needs us more than ever: with wonderful partners like 4ocean, we’ve not only taken part in ocean and beach clean-ups but also had conversations with customers and suppliers to further solve for our plastic footprint and work on sustainability solutions for the future.
5. Chase the challenge not the comfort: we brought back ice cream bars! Our mission is to reimagine classic nostalgic treats, that all can enjoy. We discontinued our dairy-based bars in 2017 because we couldn't find a supplier to meet demand. This year, we were thrilled to reintroduce them with organic, grass-fed dairy from a network of family farms. And the response from customers was an overwhelming ask to bring to even more retailers!
We can’t wait to show you what we have planned for 2025!
Happy New Year - have a good one! 🥳
