HEY, GREAT MINDS 🥰 We delve into the last instance of teenage rebellion, which I call ENGAGING IN ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES ❤️. As a great teen, this is a misguided attempt to assert independence or gain peer acceptance💔. As a great parent, it's crucial to address the root causes of such behavior with empathy and understanding❤️. You know that you did what you knew how to do, but now that you know better, you can do better🥰. So, with the use of open communication, setting clear boundaries, and providing positive outlets for self-expression, you can help steer teens away from destructive paths❤️. Calcounsel 🥰 cares.

As parents of teens, we often feel the instinct to protect them from heartbreak and bad decisions. But one of the most impactful things we can do is validate their feelings—even when it’s hard. Saying, “It makes sense you feel sad losing this boy you loved, even if he was cheating on you,” may feel counterintuitive, but it opens the door to trust and connection. By acknowledging our teen’s emotions without judgment, we help them process feelings and empower them to make healthier choices in the future. Empathy and open communication can transform our relationship with our teens, fostering resilience and mutual respect. #ParentingTeens #TeenSupport #EmpathyInParenting #BuildingTrust #EmotionalIntelligence #ParentingAdvice #TeenMentalHealth #OpenCommunication #PositiveParenting #RaisingTeens #ParentingStrategies #ParentingWisdom #TeenConnection

No wonder you’re not connecting with your teen! When we assume the worst about our teens, we miss the opportunity to connect and understand them better. Instead of jumping to conclusions, fostering open, non-judgmental conversations can build trust and encourage your teen to be more open with you. It’s not about avoiding difficult topics, but approaching them with curiosity and compassion rather than accusation. As parents, we often aim to guide our children, but how we do it matters. 🌟 Building a meaningful connection is the foundation for positive influence. Here’s why: ❌ What Doesn’t Work: ➡️ Punishment ➡️ Nagging, lecturing, or scolding ➡️ Blaming and shaming ➡️ Overprotecting ✅ What Builds Connection: ➡️ Listening attentively with minimal interruptions ➡️ Acknowledging their feelings with empathy 🤗 ➡️Encouraging cooperation instead of demanding obedience ➡️Offering unconditional love and support 💬 Why Connection Matters: When children feel they belong and are significant, they are more likely to engage, cooperate, and grow emotionally. Small, intentional actions can create a safe, loving space where they feel valued and empowered. 🌱 Let’s focus on nurturing relationships that strengthen the parent-child bond and foster a positive, respectful environment. 💖 ✨ #positiveparenting #connectionbeforecorrection #empathyinparenting #parentchildbond #positivediscipline #parentingtips #unconditionallove #familyfirst #alkasaxena #dralkasaxena What’s one way you connect with your child every day? How much are your children like you in terms of personality or temperament? I was literally having this very conversation with my mum yesterday about how my 4 children are all so different, despite being created and raised by the same parents. I am not sure where this huge interest (sometimes obsession) in determining which parent a child looks or acts like comes from, especially from extended family members? Shouldn’t we be all about celebrating difference and the unique qualities of each child, without comparing? I do think it is crucial to define your child’s temperament and your own, to recognise how they interact with each other, so that you can engage with more empathy and understanding. Basically this latest study shows children and their parents are only a little more likely to be similar than random people….. Thoughts? Why does it even matter?

Parenting has its challenges... ...truly listening to your teen can be one of them. While close-ended questions may still get you answers, open-ended questions foster growth and connection. 🌱 Open-ended questions ultimately encourage your teen's voice to flourish, fostering deeper connections and greater understanding. Instead of closing off the conversation, practice better listening with open-ended questions. 💬 Dive deeper 👉 https://lnkd.in/dJsDtr6j #motivationandchange #activelistening #parentingtips

Teenagers, even when they’ve been caught in the act… they just continue to deny it! 😣 You may continually ask yourself, how do I survive this stage with my teen? 😩 When they constantly deny what they’ve done even when it’s clear they’ve done it, your trust with your teen may start to wane. 😔 It’s natural for doubts about your teen's honesty to lead to feelings of wanting to control. However, when our conversations turn into interrogations rather than open, compassionate dialogues, it can drive our teens away—making them deny even more! 🚪💨 When teens feel they can't openly share their lives, they may lie or tell half-truths to keep the peace. Many are hesitant to "rock the boat" if they fear it could cause a big problem. 🌊😳 If you’re struggling to trust your teen, here are some things you can say to help them feel safe about opening up: "I've noticed some changes in your behavior. Can you share what you've been up to lately?" 🤔 "I'm finding it hard to trust what you tell me due to inconsistencies in your stories. Can we talk about this so I can understand better?" 💬 "I want to be on the same page, but I feel like I might be missing part of the story. Can we discuss more?" 📖 "I want to trust you, so it would help if you could tell me more about your (friend/plan)." 🙏 And then remember, we can’t fight EVERY battle. ⚔️ Children will often lie if they know that EVERY CHOICE THEY MAKE will be controlled. 🚫 Many children in my office lie because they feel that their parents say NO to everything. ❌ When they talk to you, decide to listen with an open mind before shutting everything they say down. 👂 While there's no guarantee your child will share everything, creating a trusting environment increases the chances they'll let you in. Avoid accusations, snarky comments, and shutting down conversations. Instead, listen with empathy and respect your teen's perspective. 💖 📞 Comment CALL for info on how to book a free discovery call today, and let's work together to support your journey. 🌟 #ParentingJourney #Success #SuccessMindset #Parenting #ParentingTips #ParentingLife #Parenting101 #ParentingAdvice #CommunicationSkills #CommunicationTips #Communication #MomOfTeenagers #TeenagerStruggles #TeenCoach #Coaching IB: @classicjackco

Parents, there's one important thing I want to highlight today... 🚨 Open communication is the foundation of a healthy parent-teen relationship. It builds trust, promotes mutual respect, and helps teens feel supported as they navigate the complexities of adolescence. Here are some key points I have: ✨ Clear and direct communication that isn't blaming or teasing fosters trust, respect, and connection ✨ Honest, non-judgmental conversations allow teens to express themselves freely. ✨ Creating a safe space for your teen helps them share without fear. ✨ Sometimes, all they need is to be heard without solutions. ✨ Supporting your teen means being open and present in their journey without your own agenda. Normalising Periods: A Proud Parenting Moment As a mom, I recently had a unique learning moment with my 8-year-old, Ayaansh. While watching Sharma ji ki beti, he noticed a scene where a girl got her period and asked me, “What’s going on?” Instead of brushing it off, I decided it was the perfect moment to normalize this natural part of life. I explained in simple terms that periods are part of how a girl’s body prepares for the future. He even linked it to the changes he’ll go through, like growing a beard! It felt empowering to openly address a topic that’s often overlooked, building a foundation of trust and respect. Why This Matters Talking to children about body changes prepares them to be more understanding and empathetic toward others. I want Ayaansh to grow up with knowledge and respect for these natural processes—and to support his peers in a compassionate way. For those interested in more details about how I approached this conversation, feel free to reach out! Normalizing these conversations is crucial for raising a generation that’s both informed and kind.
