Sargon, thank you for personally delivering the books to Fischer Middle School too and supporting The Eastside Education Initiative (EEI). You were one of my first tech leaders at 23 and here we are over 25 years later … giving it back. Beautiful ❤️ Can we get more donors? One classroom at a time, one school at a time … How much? $220 for a classroom set of 35. That’s it 😍 so individuals and companies can all be part of this butterfly effect. Ps: grants ok too 🥰 I want books like this everywhere. Let’s prove that we can build demand backwards - that you the professional, that you a business sees value in HOPE books in schools. So by the time kids are out - we’ve shown them a job pathway option through story. Students need to see us to be us. 4000 books given for FREE to students in a year - for many their first book. At Zartnir, we prioritize quality over quantity, which is why our Operation Director, Lilit Poghosyan, personally trains teachers who are interested in joining our team. During the training we: - introduce the teachers to our guiding principles, - provide them legal documents and rules to work with Zartnir, - give methodology on how to conduct the clubs, - show interactive tools to use during the discussions. After the training, teachers who decide to join Zartnir send us the exact number of how many children who are going to participate in our reading clubs as a confirmation of participation. Finally, after going through all these stages, we choose the appropriate book for each of the joined classes depending on the children’s ages and send the books to them. This is how life-changing cooperation starts for club member kids and thus for our new generation. Kali, our Marketing and Outreach Manager, is participating in this year’s Leadership Carroll cohort, and one of the cohort’s projects this year is to support early literacy in our community! They are developing family literacy kits that will be given to new families at Tanner during July. In addition to the kits, the group also wants to generate support for the existing literacy programs in the county. According to Ferst Readers, 37% of children arrive at kindergarten without the skills necessary for lifetime learning. Not only that, but cognitive processes develop rapidly in the first few years of life. By age 3, roughly 85% of the brain is developed. However, traditional education takes place in grades K-12, which begins at age five.
