It's amusing to consider that even failed TV shows from the early days of television often produced more episodes than many successful modern streaming series. This was largely because there was a higher demand to fill broadcast schedules. Those were the days of appointment TV, when viewers tuned in at set times. Networks HAD to had something other than dead air. Some of you who are old enough might fondly remember these shows. Surprisingly, some (not all) still hold up well. And those catchy show jingles—such as "It's About Time"—occupy an alarming amount of space in our collective memory. Even the sitcoms can still provoke an honest chuckle; "I'm Dickens, He's Fenster" is one such example. Moreover, the commercials from that era often were unintentionally as funny as the shows they sponsored. One would think this situation presents a good opportunity to repurpose these classics, although the greater challenge might lie in navigating the use rights for such content. https://lnkd.in/gM-nNUEt

Thanks IF Magazine for another very accurate article on the latest update on the difficulties and decline of securing funds to produce high end feature films for the international markets. Sadly, it's more dire news for the film industry but as I always say that there is room for hope and optimism as 'what goes down must eventually go up' Producers must secure international Co-production partners if they want to survive and thrive in producing high value film feature film and television content in the future. The advantage of sharing the role of jointly securing high budgets to produce feature and television budgets is the recipe for survival, success and can not be underestimated. Many countries are offering half the budget in soft money if production companies can raise the other 50% of the hard money and film at their studios in their countries. I was approached by many countries recently at MIPCOM Cannes France to shoot the majority of your film in their country in order to qualify for their tax incentives and financial credits on completion (in real money return) that can be used as leverage to shoot your film earlier by advancing and providing LOL against expected guaranteed film funding.
Fewer big-budget international TV and Australian theatrical features have caused a near 30 per cent year-on-year decline in the amount spent on scripted content in the country across the last financial year, Screen Australia says. https://hubs.li/Q02_RsR00
