Exciting Times at Lviv IT Arena! We were delighted to attend Lviv IT Arena, a pivotal event for Ukraine and the global IT community. This conference brings together talent and innovation, creating a vibrant platform for meaningful discussions. A special highlight for us was our colleague, Kateryna Protsenko, Head of Business Operations at Promova, who took the stage as a speaker at the business breakfast “SheTech: Empowering Women and Driving Ukraine’s Victory.” Kateryna shared invaluable insights on female leadership in the Ukrainian tech industry, particularly during these challenging wartime circumstances. We discussed the importance of supporting women in technology, who not only advance innovation but also contribute to economic stability and strengthen society. Together, we are forging a path toward a more progressive future for Ukraine!

Today, I addressed the ‘National Forum on the Implementation of the Roma Strategy. Valuing Diversity’, organised by the NGO Voice of Romni, in Kyiv, Ukraine. The challenges Roma face are enormous and widespread across Council of Europe member states. To stand up for the human rights of Roma, here are three thoughts: 1. Combat Antigypsyism, we need to tackle the profound inequalities between the Roma and other members of our societies and celebrate the wonderful cultural diversity of Roma communities. 2. Work together, we can do so much more united than we can separate. 3. Women are vectors of change, we need to find ways to work with them so that they become all the more empowered to be the champions and leaders who can make a profound difference. 👇 https://lnkd.in/efGQjeay

This year's #GirlsinICTDay celebrations are about #Leadership, highlighting the crucial need for strong female role models in STEM professions. Despite women making up 40% of high-skill occupations worldwide, their presence in ICT-related fields remains disproportionately low. This issue is especially prevalent in software development, engineering, technology, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. Women are also underrepresented in research, academia, and high-level policy-making roles. Encountering #femaleleadership is critical for girls and young women to excel in STEM, inspiring them and breaking down barriers to their progress. The 2024 Girls in ICT Day theme aims to tackle these challenges by advocating for empowerment and leadership development to build a more equitable future in STEM. As Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, eloquently puts it: ✨"Leadership transcends mere job titles or positions of power". It involves "harnessing the power of ideas, innovation, and the ability to #navigatechange with confidence". ✨ Our shared digital future requires female leaders who possess technological proficiency and visionary leadership to advocate for a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable world, both online and offline. 🌐Here the short, but powerful video message from Doreen Bogdan-Martin: https://lnkd.in/gnVEpr7c #GirlsinICTDay2024

Latinas have been making significant strides in US politics, but there’s still a long way to go. 🌟 Trailblazers like Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the first Latina in US Congress, and Catherine Cortez Masto, the first Latina US Senator, have paved the way. However, as of 2024, only 3.6% of all voting members of Congress identify as Latina, and just 3% of mayors in the top 100 most populous cities are Latina. 🚀 Vote Run Lead Action (VRLA) is dedicated to changing this narrative. 💪 Their VRLA Victory Series: Winning Strategies in 2024 is a four-part webinar series designed to empower women and gender-expansive individuals to run for office or work on campaigns. “This series offers helpful tactics to build campaigns and the support needed to not only run but also win,” says Angelica Rubio, VRLA’s state director for New Mexico. 🎯 🔗 https://hubs.la/Q02GLSwX0 #LatinasInPolitics #Empowerment #VoteRunLead #RepresentationMatters #WomenInLeadership 🌟

SAVE THE DATE! Our next WahlheYmat Talks event is just two weeks away — save the date! 📅 When: 23 October 2024, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm 📍 Where: Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek (AGB) PopUp Saal (Blücherplatz 1, 10961 Berlin) We'll be continuing our conversation on renewing democratic structures — ones that are inclusive, independent of citizenship, and adapted to the digital age. This time, we’re excited to engage with leaders from impactful civic organizations to explore their perspectives: what they can contribute, what they want to achieve, and how they manage the many challenges and responsibilities in this space. A huge thanks to Deana Mrkaja for once again taking the lead on moderating the Talks, to ZLB for providing such a great venue and support, and to the WahlheYmat team — and of course, all of you who come and support our mission. Now, more than ever, it's crucial to find ways for newcomers to engage in public and political life. Without broad participation and a transformation of today’s structures, we won't be able to create an inclusive society in Berlin where everyone feels at home. It’s time to break down the barriers — both in society and in our minds. #Wahlheymat #WahlheymatTalks #DigitalDemocracy #Plurality #RenewDemocracy

*Girls Who Print Africa: Beyond Boundaries Conference Experience* A friend recommended the Girls Who Print Africa conference, and despite having no direct connection to the printing industry, I initially hesitated to register. I wasn't sure it was for me. But after some persuasion, I reluctantly signed up—with no intention of attending. Fast forward to the day before the event, and I was still unsure… until I decided to show up last minute. And I'm so glad I did! The experience was nothing short of inspiring. Surrounded by brilliant women, I felt empowered and truly connected to the spirit of the conference. Thank you to Girls Who Print Africa and the amazing Ayanfeoluwa Ibitoye for convening this event. Key takeaways: - Anuoluwapo Odukale opened with a powerful talk on the importance of empowering women and girls in the industry through education and mentorship. She also highlighted the significance of finding your niche. - Bukola Jegede shared her wisdom on the value of mentorship and community. She emphasized the importance of surrounding ourselves with people who challenge and inspire us to grow, innovate, and maintain mental well-being. - Mrs. Blessing Emmanuel-Macaulay tackled the topic of imposter syndrome, providing us with valuable strategies to overcome it: - Reframe your inner dialogue - Set realistic expectations - Let go of shame - Find a support group - Celebrate your wins - Keep a journal for your thoughts and plans - Affirm yourself - And finally, Miss Adeyinka Opasanya wrapped up with an insightful discussion on the power of a growth mindset. Which leads me to ask: Do you have a growth mindset, or a fixed one? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! This conference was a reminder that women in the industry are breaking boundaries and setting new standards. To all the young women battling self-doubt or facing societal limitations—know this: we are limitless. When we set our minds to something, nothing can stop us! #BeyondBoundaries24 #GirlsWhoPrintAfrica #CelebratingGirlPower #WomenEmpowerment #GrowthMindset #LimitlessPotential

"Seek out a mentor for professional growth and opportunities, build meaningful relationships and leverage these connections", This is one of Monica's advice to become a successful Tech marketeer! Let's read her journey about her journey of resilience and determination in the industry!
Just a quick reminder from last week: this month, I'm diving into the stories of some amazing hidden heroines in the tech world. These women truly represent resilience and determination. They often put in a ton of hard work behind the scenes, and sometimes their incredible contributions get overlooked compared to the more prominent senior leaders in the industry. So, let’s shine a spotlight on Monica Toma, our Leading Lady in Tech for November! She brings so much passion, drive, and energy to everything she does, both at work and in her personal life. Sara Verri deserves a shoutout for being one of Monica's first managers who really helped shape and guide her into the successful tech marketer she is today.
