Being committed to the territory, especially during periods of intense drought, makes us perceive the importance of the #AmericasCup taking strong root in the city that is hosting the Regatta. The relationship between a sporting event like the #AC and the territory in which it unfolds goes beyond mere sports celebration, and seeing the organization demonstrate its deep commitment to the local community, its environment, and its natural resources through actions, especially in times of intense drought, is greatly appreciated. Drought is a reality that affects many regions around the world, posing significant challenges to communities and resource management. In periods like these, awareness of the importance of sustainability and environmental preservation becomes even more evident. The decisions and actions taken by organizations during these critical times have a lasting impact on the territory and its ability to face future adversities. In this context, the rooting of the Copa America in the city of Barcelona can be a sign of solidarity and commitment to the territory and its people, and it is indeed more than just a sports competition; it is an opportunity to unite forces, inspire change, and foster community resilience. When a city hosts an event like the AC, opportunities arise to promote sustainable practices, educate, in that case, about water conservation, and develop innovative solutions to address environmental challenges. From efficient water management to citizen awareness programs about the importance of conservation, the AC thus becomes a platform for driving positive change. The AC, in this sense, is an inspiring example of how the combination of sport, community, and the environment can lead to positive and lasting outcomes for all, as part of the legacy of the event itself.
AGBAR, the leading water management, and environmental services company, will provide critical support to jointly promote sustainability solutions, such as the use of reclaimed water, supplied by Agbar, for actions such as the cleaning of AC75s, AC40s, and support vessels.

The vast majority of the 39,000 golf facilities around the world don’t have a sustainability manager or director. They don’t have the capacity to take challenges and opportunities and mold them into their business to come out as a more efficient, more popular, more profitable business 👎 🎙️ In this conversation, Jonathan Smith shares how the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf strives to help everyone meet their sustainability goals. https://lnkd.in/eCpXsRWw #Golfsustainability #ForSustainableGolf #Sustainability #GreenGolf #OpenGolf

13 things I love about Forest Green Rovers (none of which involve a football) I got to meet Dale Vince OBE, founder of Ecotricity, at PurposeFest on Monday. Bizarrely, not knowing he’d be there, I had been reading his book on the train, Manifesto. And wow, I had little idea how influential he’s been to clean energy and transport - two sectors that embody the most carbon emissions. Aside from a 5/5 book recommendation let me just pull out a few nuggets from one chapter when he bought a small football club, Forest Green Rovers. Over 10 years at the club, his work is now transforming the entire sporting industry. 13 facts about the club: 1. Organic football pitch that captures rainwater and recycles for irrigation 2. Toilet waste is cleaned onsite and pumped onto the pitch to reduce water further 3. Not only is it vegan only, but significantly more popular than the old meat-based menus 4. Solar powered mow-bot 5. Reverse sugar tax in all their drinks 6. UK’s first female head of football academy 7. Stadium surrounded by wildflower borders, even has a beehive 8. A wind turbine is 1km away powering the stadium 9. Carbon footprint of the club, per attendee, is 67% lower than 10yrs prior 10. The mighty Sea Shepherd Global is blazoned on their football kit 11. They are building the world’s greenest stadium out of timber, designed by legendary architects Zaha Hadid Architects (see picture!) ... 12. ... named Eco Park, it has room for a new green business park, employing over 4,000 13. The club was the founding signatory of UN’s influential Sport for Climate Action, and FIFA named it the world’s greenest club The list can actually go on. I stopped at 13 because that’s Dale’s lucky number. At first I’m sure he was ridiculed for running a green football club. 10 years later this small football club has been a major catalyst for bringing sustainability into sport at large. Dale said of his innovative work with the club, "this is all quite easy, you just have to want to".

Happy World Environment Day! We are excited to share how we have been making a difference for our planet. In just 8 months, we have planted 10,711 trees—covering an area larger than six football pitches. How did we achieve this? By planting a minimum of 10 trees with every order you place at Kingly with the help of our partners at Greenspark. But that's not all. Last year, we made remarkable strides in our sustainability efforts. We saved enough water to fill over 10 Olympic-sized swimming pools, meeting the annual drinking water needs of 143,726 people. We conserved energy equal to powering an average home for over 10 years. We offset carbon emissions equivalent to driving a car around the Earth more than four times. Plus, we saved landfill space the size of 1.5 soccer fields. Reflecting on the recent post about the Olympics and sustainability, it's inspiring to see how major events can set benchmarks for environmental stewardship. Here are three concrete examples of sustainable practices implemented by the Olympics: ♻️Sustainable Venues: Many Olympic venues were built using eco-friendly materials, reducing the overall carbon footprint. Recycled and renewable resources were integral to the construction process. 🦖Zero-Waste Initiatives: The Games adopted zero-waste policies, including extensive recycling programs and the elimination of single-use plastics. These measures significantly reduced waste generation throughout the event. 🌳Carbon Offset Programs: To counterbalance emissions from activities like travel and construction, the Olympics invested in carbon offset projects. These initiatives often included reforestation and renewable energy projects, contributing to long-term environmental benefits. #Sustainability #Olympics #GreenInitiatives #Teamsworld

Is golf a guilty pleasure? Given the enormity of the climate changes we are all feeling, is golf doing enough to play its part moving forward? A very interesting morning at LIV Golf Sustainability Summit with an excellent panel of speakers including Andrew Harvey Johnston , GM, Chief agronomist at Sentosa Golf Club, Richard Jeo Chris Gray, Jake Jones, Greg Norman and moderated by Radha Balani. We can’t stop human progress, even with our good intentions. The reality is humans just won’t stop flying, staging big sporting events and consuming goods unless Governments impose drastic measures. So, what do we do? Greg Norman spoke with experience on course design and the significant improvements in water reduction, reduction of fertilisers, using the natural vegetation and building on degraded land. Andy has transformed Sentosa Golf Club’s eco credentials into one of the finest in the world. His team have introduced bee colonies, processed food waste into fertilizer, eliminated all plastic water bottles and recycled storm water to water the course to name but a few. Could golf courses really embrace nature? Build them on landfills or old quarry’s? How about introducing walking trails so everyone can enjoy the land? Introduce a diverse eco system with an abundance of plant and animal life in the future? A golfing utopia - a haven where nature can thrive? So much more needs to be done of course but, as Matt Damon said in his movie The Martian, can we “Science the sh$t out of it?” Or are we just kidding ourselves? #golf #environment KB Momentum Sentosa Development Corporation

Regen Farmers Mutual is running a "Regen Roadshow" The Regen Roadshow brings corporate and government buyers to groups of farmers participating in the Regen Farmers Mutual Landscape Impact Programs active across VIC, NSW and QLD. The need for engagement between large organisations and groups of farmers comes down to the requirements for reporting on a "landscape-scale" or "supply-shed-scale". These new sustainability reporting standards are driving interest in working with groups of farmers instead of doing isolated individual actions. The Regen Roadshow is the perfect opportunity for information exchange between groups of farmers that are working at landscape scale and organisation wanting to define their sustainability reporting standards. It's not always easy to find farmer groups that are seeking input from investors, buyers, impact capital, environmental markets and the supply chains that they sell their commodities to on a regular basis. This set of tours assists the value chain upstream of farmers to connect to genuine landscape scale projects and get direct feedback on policy considerations at a time when many are addressing sustainability reporting requirements. GET OUT OF TOWN: Take a seat on one of 3 #regen tours Regen Farmers Mutual is running between Melbourne and Brisbane. The focus passenger on the bus tour is the sustainability professional that is preparing for the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standard, which comes into effect in July 2024. There's a need for large companies to report across a "supply-shed" and at "landscape-scale" and the #regenroadshow gives this person access to farmers working as a group and actually doing it. The tours are designed to be a lot of fun. 12-13th of March: Melbourne to Albury via the Murray River 14-15th of March: Albury to Sydney via the Southern Tablelands and Mulloon Institute 17-20th: Sydney to Brisbane via the Northern Rivers, Upper Clarence and the Traprock Get seats here: https://lnkd.in/e7GNeqSr #landscapeimpact #insetting #sustainability #reporting #TNFD #TNFC #sbti
