New Post: Queen, Taylor Swift, Michael Bublé and the Albums With the Most Weeks at No. 1 on Top Catalog Albums - https://lnkd.in/gj3uCNd3 - Taylor Swift’s Lover logs its 47th week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Catalog Albums chart this week (dated June 15), extending its record for the longest run by a female solo artist in the chart’s history. Lover eclipsed Adele’s debut album, 19, last month. Lover didn’t get all that much love (at least by Swift’s sky-high standards) when it was released. The album spent just one week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was passed over for a Grammy nod for album of the year (though it did receive a Grammy nod for best pop vocal album). But the belated success of “Cruel Summer,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks starting in October 2023, more than four years after the album’s release, has revived the album. The phenomenal success of the Eras Tour has also kept it high on the charts. The Catalog Albums chart ranks the week’s most popular catalog albums in the U.S. Catalog albums are titles that are older than 18 months old and have fallen below No. 100 on the Billboard 200 — or holiday albums in their second holiday season. The chart was introduced in Billboard in the issue dated May 25, 1991. For the first 18 years of Top Catalog Albums, catalog albums weren’t eligible to appear on the Billboard 200. That changed with the Dec. 5, 2009-dated chart, when catalog restrictions were lifted, turning the Billboard 200 into an all-inclusive list of the best-selling albums in the country, regardless of their age. (The adjustment came after Michael Jackson’s death in June 2009, which triggered a sales explosion for his catalog titles. Jackson’s catalog compilation Number Ones was the best-selling album in six of the first seven weeks following his death, yet was ineligible for Billboard’s flagship chart – marking the first time a catalog album had outsold the No. 1 album on the Billboard 200.) Starting with the issue dated Dec. 13, 2014, Billboard shifted from pure sales to a multi-factor consumption formula that also includes on-demand streaming and digital track sales. We’re going to count down the 17 albums with the longest runs at No. 1 on Catalog Albums from 1991 to the present. It’s an eclectic list, to say the least. It includes two Christmas albums, a film soundtrack and a remarkably wide range of music, including pop, traditional pop, rock, hard rock, R&B, rap, country and reggae. Eight of the albums on the list were released prior to the 1991 inception of the chart. Impressively, they made the list even though activity prior to the chart’s inception doesn’t count. Here are the albums with the longest runs at No. 1 on Catalog Albums from 1991 to the present. Each entry includes the album’s release date, the date the album first reached No. 1

New Post: How Impressive Are Future’s Chart Feats With His New ‘Mixtape Pluto’ Album? - https://lnkd.in/g3S4bKAx - The top spot of the Billboard 200 albums chart is becoming particularly familiar territory for Future in 2024. After visiting the apex earlier this year (along with producer co-star Metro Boomin) on the We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You sets, he takes a third trip there this week with his Mixtape Pluto set. The new record — billed as a return to the rapper’s mixtape days, with 17 tracks and no credited features — bows at No. 1 this week with 129,000 units in its first frame. In addition to the set being Future’s third to top the Billboard 200 this year, it’s the 11th total in his career, moving him into a four-way tie (with Bruce Springsteen, Eminem and Ye) for fifth place among all artists, behind only The Beatles (19), Jay-Z, Taylor Swift (both 14) and Drake (13). What do these accomplishments mean for Future? And what do we make of his mixtape-era return? Billboard staffers answer these questions and more below. 1. Future’s Mixtape Pluto debuts at No. 1 this week with 129,000 units, marking his third No. 1 album in the last six months, after the We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You sets with Metro Boomin. On a scale of 1-10, how impressive is that accomplishment for Future in 2024? Christopher Claxton: A 9. For Future to have three No. 1 albums in 2024 is a very impressive accomplishment, on top of the accomplishment of just releasing three albums in a single year. We live in a very competitive music landscape, with ever-evolving trends, so to continue to stay on top of an all-genre chart is remarkable. Kyle Denis: I’d say about a 7. We’ve already seen him achieve No. 1 album debuts in back-to-back weeks, so this feels like the natural step. In 2024, this feat is particularly impressive to me because of 1) how crowded the marketplace is with major mainstream releases and 2) how dominant of a presence Future has been this year without necessarily plastering his face and name across every possible channel. Outside of “Like That,” Future’s 2024 success hasn’t been tied to a single track, which means his fans are showing up to consume each new release in its entirety – something every artist strives for. Angel Diaz: I give it a 10 on the impressive scale. The mainstream media were trying to leave rap for dead because they secretly believe its pop culture dominance is still a fad. They were reminded that rap music is but a cog in hip-hop culture and Future is one of its most influential figures. Nobody sings the blues quite like he does. Michael Saponara: 9. It’s amazing Future is still doing this at 40. He’s an ageless wonder in what’s typically a young person’s game. His voice spans generations and fans just won’t g

Taylor Swift left Liverpool in raptures this summer as her world tour stopped in the city for three nights. Now are Coldplay - arguably the world's biggest band - about to do the same in Hull? The Glastonbury favourites, with over 100 million albums sold worldwide, have chosen Hull's Sewell Group Craven Park Stadium as the only venue outside London to see gigs on Coldplay's 2025 European tour. There's more here in the Hull Daily Mail: https://lnkd.in/ehanuTpJ Paul Lakin, chief executive at rugby league club Hull KR, who play at Craven Park, said: “We are truly delighted to bring the world’s biggest band to east Hull. Sewell Group Craven Park will be rocking for two consecutive nights for the biggest show the city has ever seen. We can’t wait to proudly represent the whole region and North of England." Mike Ross, leader of Hull City Council, said: “I have no doubt that residents right across the city will be extremely excited by this huge news. While I am sure everyone who attends will enjoy themselves, we also hope the city benefits economically and more while Coldplay joins us in Hull.” Helpfully for Hull a new report, produced by Turley Economics, has revealed that having world-famous stars play in front of hundreds of thousands of people at Anfield in Liverpool has delivered £31.3m to the local economy and created thousands of jobs for local people. 🏋️I’ll be at the gym all day on Saturday! 🗣️This is what Nessa said to Smithy last night about her weekend plans, well done Nessa hope you enjoy it. But we know they are thinking about two separate places. 🙊Ambiguity can happen like this in commercial agreements, on the face of it a clause can mean one thing to one person and something completely different to another. ✍️Having a definitions section in the agreement means that things such as price, names of the parties and other important details can be defined at the beginning of the agreement and then referred to throughout the rest of the agreement. 💪🏻Defined terms will have a capital letter at the beginning of the word, this makes them easy to spot. 👏It’s important to ensure that you understand all of the terms contained in a commercial agreement before you sign on the dotted line!

THE BLACK PERSON’S GUIDE TO WATCHING ENGLAND PLAY FOOTBALL THIS WEEK. Remember, it’s just a game. Your non-Black friends aren’t racist. They’re just upset when England lose and need to blame someone who just happens to share your reflection. It’s nothing personal. You should be grateful they allowed any Black players to represent their country. Because it’s technically ‘not their country’. So, pipe down, swig a pint of lager and get into the spirit of things. Remember to breathe if it comes down to a penalty shootout again. Be prepared to switch off your television immediately if England fail to win. Lock your doors and windows. Do not play any reggae, soul, R&B or hip-hop for at least a month afterwards. Keep your head down if you go out. Don’t mention the football. Don’t ‘look’ Black. Definitely don’t buy any plantain. If England end up winning the entire tournament, do not talk about the significant contribution of the Black players. Now is not the time to bring up race. The country is unified under a white captain and white manager. Not everything is about race. Get over yourself. And it’s okay to hug your white neighbours who voted for The Reform Party in last week’s general election. Water under the bridge. England won. Let the borders close in celebration. Hand them a patty and a red stripe. Share the victory. But if England don’t win the tournament – please seek legal advice before going abroad on holiday. Obtain written confirmation that your Black ass will be allowed back in the country with your valid British passport. Yu can’t seh mi nevah warn yu. Yu can’t seh yu nevah know…… #blackbypopulardemand #sticktofootball #therestisfootball #euros #kickitout
