The use of organic-shaped tree supports has completely won me over. In the past, I wasn't a fan of support or infill in 3D printing. However, thanks to the latest slicer algorithms and the more organic shapes of these designs, I've become a true believer. Take a look at this Gyroid print, where the scaffolds have become the main element of the design. #3Dprinting #Additive_Manufacturing

Another way to automate 3D printing, without any extra hardware, even on a cantilevered printer. My robotics team needed a large amount of boxing spacers, which are a very specific sized spacer that can go inside of aluminum c-channel for reinforcement. As a solution, I set up some custom g-code to have my printer make them without any retractions, and then automatically knock them off the build plate. This only works because the parts have a small surface area contacting the build plate and are relatively tall. I was able to print an entire kilo of them in less than two days. #3Dprinting #automation #manufacturing #gcode
