This video showed up in my feed just in perfect timing as a kind reminder of what we are depleting with our mass (over) consumption. With only a few days before the sales of the year start (Black Week, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas gifts frenzy, etc.) I’ll keep this video in my mind when fighting the urge to spend, spend , spend.

Reflecting on what makes this such a powerful video. I think it is the first personal narrative coupled with the different slant on a recurring message.

Mars Retrograde: A Journey Into Your Inner Fire Every couple of years, Mars—the planet of action, courage, and drive—goes retrograde, shifting its energy inward. Instead of charging forward, this is a time to slow down, reflect, and realign with your passions. Mars usually pushes us to take bold steps and claim our power. But during retrograde, the warrior turns inward, inviting you to ask: * Am I putting my energy into what truly lights me up? * Where do I need more courage, or where am I pushing too hard? * How can I balance my inner fire to act with clarity and purpose? This pause isn’t a setback; it’s a chance to recalibrate. By tuning into your inner world, you prepare to move forward with more intention and alignment. I always tend to oscillate between these two ideologies: i.logi 1: Dont aim for the skies. You don't have wings. i. logi 2. Come on, anybody can board a plane Now, feel the clouds. i. logi 1. Protect the earth. You just have one. i. logi 2. Why not ground the Mars? i. logi 1: Stand like a tree Grow a jungle around you. i. logi 2. Be like the Birds. Nest away! i. logi 1. Stay calm. Find peace. Settle. i. logi 2. Embrace chaos. Question yourself. Unsettle. ------- While the former ideology is what that keeps the earth in its axis. "Time and again" it got to move and that could only happen with the latter.

Notice how the northern latitudes, like Canada, experience the most dramatic seasonal fluctuations (this is an annual temperature plot where green is warm and blue-white is cold). The destabilization of this cycle is occuring due to the addition of heat and the removal of water-bearing forests and wetlands. Changing these two factors alone shifts the planet’s (and Canada’s) ability to tranform vast amounts of energy into stable periodic cycles which we rely on. Removing the dampening effect of forests, which naturally absorb carbon, water, and heat flux, creates an unstable feedback effect. Canada experiences this currently as floods and forest fires, heat waves, droughts, and a decline in ecosystems. It will become more damaging without action. In dynamical systems like our biosphere, the transition from one stable cycle to another is often chaotic. We will begin to mix seasons - summer heat in January, snow in July. Heat waves and frost snaps will scorch crops and descimate GDP. Electrical demand will surge and collapse our fragile networks. People will freeze, or asphyxiate from monoxide poisoning as they did last year in Texas. Heat waves will have a similar effect, when 40 million people want to use their air conditioners. People, mostly our parents generation and our children, will die of heat stroke. Floods will damage critical infrastructure, roads, railways, inland-ports, electrical systems. Water filtration plants will be overwhelmed by unprecedented storm surges. Drinking water will be irreparably contaminated. Everyone has the power to help prevent the destabilization that is occuring in our country and on our planet. Use less. Bike more. Reforest. Garden. Buy locally. Eat more plants. Eat less meat. Take care of local waterways. Pick up trash. Vote for local leadership with true-green mandates. Forgoe fast fashion. Invest in quality renewable materials. Build community. Invest in community. Help the vulnerable. Stay informed on local and global matters. Protect water and trees like your life depends on it. It does.

Stay the course. This journey of Mars in Taurus keeps evoking for me the charging bull, fixed in purpose and growing in momentum. In the past few days, that bull at full steam bumped up against some other things in a big, scary way. It’s easy to feel rattled. But a bull at full speed can’t easily pivot or stop what it’s doing and reflect, and that might not be the wisest action. Whatever scary conflict erupted for you, what does it really change for your intention and your work? Are there subtle adjustments to make while keeping momentum going? What is your mission that persists in spite of changing conditions?
