A presentation is a show, even at a business meeting! If you think presentations are only needed at serious conferences, here’s some news: you can’t do without them! Let’s break it down: 1. Business meetings You might be a genius, but without a good presentation, no one will understand you. • Charts that look like works of art. • Clear tables that speak for themselves. These are what will make your colleagues think: “He/She really knows what they’re talking about.” 2. Concerts Imagine a rock concert without cool visuals on the screen. What kind of concert is that? A presentation is like backup vocals: without it, the show won’t feel complete. 3. Festivals Every festival is a little carnival. A presentation is your drummer leading the parade. It grabs attention, excites the crowd, and says: “Friends, this is going to be fun!” 4. Promotional events A presentation is your salesperson with a megaphone, shouting: “Buy this! It’s the best thing you’ve ever seen!” But it shouts with style, humor, and creativity. The moral is simple A presentation is like coffee. You can go without it, but it’s so much better with it! Make it: • Easy to follow. • Comfortable to read. • Visually appealing.

I have a question and could use some feedback. Besides the main attraction at an event, what do you look forward to most? Is it the giveaways or the chance for meet and greets? Maybe it’s connecting with folks who share your interests, discovering new artists, or just enjoying the vibe and energy. The memories made and the unique moments can often be just as special as the main event itself. What makes attending an event special?

Artists at events are like a bold accent in a masterpiece: everything might look fine without them, but something essential is clearly missing. They set the mood, captivate attention, and transform an ordinary evening into a true celebration. Imagine that instead of a formal gathering, your event is filled with magic, laughter, elegance, and awe-inspiring performances. Artists are the ones who turn a good event into an unforgettable experience that people talk about, remember fondly, and eagerly share with friends. Choose your event, and we’ll craft the perfect show for you! ✉️ main@illizium.events

#ProTip 1 for live events! Teach presenters how to use the microphone! We've all been to a conference or awards dinner where we couldn't hear the presenter, but we COULD hear the microphone squealing out of control. Bad sound doesn't just make them sound bad - it makes them look bad. These problem is almost always VERY easy to fix. The solution? Make sure all of your presenters know these microphone protips: * Avoid feedback (screaching / howling microphone sounds). A lot of presenters don't know what causes microphone howling sounds. They are caused by a microphone are caused by the microphone picking up the sound of the PA / speaker! This can happen when the microphone is physically too close to the PA, or if it's pointed directly at the PA. Before the event starts, figure out the "hot spots" where your presenters can't stand. Teach them what causes feedback, and show them where they can't stand! This simple tip will save everyone's ears, and let your presenters shine! * Handheld Microphone Placement: A handheld microphone will ONLY pick up your presenters voice if the mic is a fist-distance away from the speaker's mouth, or closer. Many otherwise well prepared presenters will hold the microphone in the mid line of their torso, where the microphone cannot pick up their voice! Teach them! If they can't hear their voice coming out of the PA, most of the audience can't hear them. * Lavaleer Placement: I'll say it - your presenters should not be using a lav mic unless there is a professional to set it up, and manage sound levels in real time during the presentation. Because lav mics are much further from the presenter's mouth, they have to be turned WAY up. This means they are more prone to feedback / howling. A good sound person can fix these problems in real time from the sound board. If you don't have a sound person, use a handheld instead - they are MUCH more forgiving. * Schedule a quick sound check with each of your presenters before the audience arrives. Making sure everyone knows best practices on the mic will eliminate awkward and unpleasant sound problems, and make your presenters (and you) look like stars. More to come! After headlining thousands of events as a comedian magician and mentalist, I'm sharing the top ten event protips I've learned. I hope they help you with your own events! www.theSimonShow.com

Did you know that it’s okay to switch off sometimes? That urge to observe every detail as you watch a show or attend an event? How often do you resist the urge to dissect every detail: “The lineup could’ve been stronger.” “The layout of the venue seems inefficient.” “I wonder how they managed the technical aspects.” Your natural instinct is to analyse events with a critical eye; but there’s beauty in simply being present. It’s okay to surrender to the experience: Attend that concert, conference, or community event as a guest - not a professional. Resist the temptation to evaluate every aspect. Instead, immerse yourself in the moment, embracing the opportunity to learn, enjoy, and be entertained. Yes, your mind may wander, as you’re naturally seeking out inspiration and improvement. But remember, it’s equally important to relax and savour the experience. God forbid you just revel in the feeling the event leaves you with. Sometimes, that’s enough. Learn to let go, even if just for a moment. That’s all. P.S. Share a memorable experience where you were able to switch off and enjoy an event without analysing it. P.P.S. Mine is usually concerts: Post Malone, Katy Perry, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Brian McKnight…: All these concerts left me with unique and special feelings. The wait is over......... After hearing so many speakers talking about their need for a showreel. Yet not having the opportunity to speak for them to be filmed, we have come up with a solution. We are going to put on an event that anybody can apply to speak at. All speakers will receive showreels AND snips of the footage to use as photos of them speaking. We will selectively choose the speakers, to put on an event that is full of value for ticket holders. We are about to begin looking for venues in the Midlands, so details of the first event will be announced in due course. By hosting an event like this, it means that you, as a speaker or MC, will have a supportive and encouraging audience and fabulous venue. The day will be set up with the focus on creating the showreels, so it is an opportunity for YOU to gain some experience along with our expertise to do what we do best. We are looking to collaborate with community leaders and event hosts to bring something new, that will serve so many! If you are a speaker, or looking to start speaking on stages, get in touch. Tell me where you're at in your speaking journey and what you would be able to talk about. Of course, this comes at a cost. But it will be set up for you to shine. As we can shoot multiple in a day, your costs are significantly reduced. You will come away having spoken in front of a supportive audience, a showreel to help to promote you as a speaker, and images of you speaking to use on socials. If you are a community leader or event host and would be interested in collaborating, please get in touch. And if you know of anyone that this would help, please share with them! To express an interest and be the first to know as and when details start to come together, please send me an email - claire@dovamanmedia.co.uk and we will be in touch.

We all know how powerful reviews can be in shaping a business's reputation, but how do you encourage clients to leave them, and where should you direct them to post? Here’s what one of our valued clients had to say about their experience with us: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ “We have booked Mariella to host a paint and sip party in our office twice now and both times have been an excellent experience! She made the event fun and interactive and gave great instructions to enable us to create our masterpieces. Mariella provided all the equipment we required, even down to the music! Our staff absolutely love these events and we will be sure to book again!” Positive reviews like these mean the world to us. 🌍 They not only motivate us but also reassure potential clients that they’re in for something special. So, how do you encourage your clients to share their experiences? Simple: ask them directly after a successful event, and make it easy by providing links to platforms like Google or Facebook. What strategies have you found effective for collecting and responding to reviews?

"Jazz provides the ability to combine with other people to create new things."--Wynton Marsalis This quote grabbed me this morning. You know I love jazz, but I don't always think of it as creating something new. But when you have the right people gathered who are skilled, they can make something new out of something that is old. A song as simple as "Twinkle, Twinkle" can become a masterpiece in the hands of the right people. That relates to events. When you have the right team who have chemistry and skill, they can create an experience focused on connections, collaboration, and content. Natalie Jones Hallahan, a stagecraft expert, said, "you can judge an event not by how many people attend, but how many conversations you're curating." If you attend or produce events, how does this strike you? #eventprofs #eventjazz #unforgettableevents Holly Mulcahy
